Chongqing - On the afternoon of December 22nd, the donation ceremony of China-innovative Chongqing Haifu’s  High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) Tumor Therapeutic System was held at Haifu Medical Center in Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing, which means the therapeutic system got added to the collection of National Museum of China.

The shining star at the ceremony, HIFU Tumor Therapeutic System, is China's first large medical device with fully independent intellectual property rights.  It was put into use in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University in June 1999. Until August 2004, at least 574 cases of benign and malignant tumors were treated through the system. It completes the application of ultrasound from diagnosis to surgical treatment, and makes the treatment of internal diseases in vitro possible.

During the ceremony, the chief designer Wang Zhilong shared the stories on the early development of the system. In his opinion, the HIFU Tumor Therapeutic System  is  a good demonstration of China's medical progress.

Yang Zhu, the vice president of Chongqing Medical University, introduced that after more than 20 years of clinical application and promotion, HIFU Tumor Therapeutic System has been exported to 28 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, South Korea, Singapore, and South Africa. It has been used to treat more than 170,000 patients with benign or malignant tumors.  Meanwhile, Chongqing Medical University has provided sufficient support for the allocation of R&D staff , ensuring the completion of HIFU therapy research.

Wang Zhibiao, the inventor of the HIFU Tumor Therapeutic System and the chairman of Chongqing Haifu Medical Technology Co., Ltd., stated that the national museum collecting HIFU Tumor Therapeutic System encourages the Haifu medical team for the 30 years of dedication in the field of focused ultrasound therapy. He hopes the presence of HIFU Tumor Therapeutic System at the National Museum of China will have  people from both home and abroad witness China's medical contribution to the world.
