By Xinyi Li, Yiling Wang, Hui Liu (intern)|Jan 14,2021

Chongqing- Shan Jixiang, the previous director of the Palace Museum, had stepped down from the position for more than a year. He has been touring the country as an orator, and he's still in the spotlight everywhere he goes. In late autumn, Shan was invited to Chongqing to talk about the Forbidden City, Chongqing city, and ways to make cultural heritage live in the present with dignity.

Though he has been retired for more than a year, Shan has never faded from the public eye. On November 1, the 66-year-old Shan Jixiang was invited to Chongqing, wearing a Chinese tunic suit and cloth shoes and sharing stories about the Forbidden City and cultural heritage protection as usual. This episode of the Chongqing Interview series tells the story of him, talking about culture in the Forbidden City and culture protection.
