Chongqing - The 10th China Wujiang River Miao Flower Mountain Festival & China Pengshui Aquatic Sports Meeting will be held at the Chiyou Jiuli City and the waters of Wujiang River in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County on May 19, according to a recent press conference of the Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government.

Pengshui has successfully held the flower mountain festival/aquatic sports meeting for ten consecutive years. While this year's event aims to not only demonstrate the fruitful achievements and latest developments of Pengshui in hosting these events during the past ten years but also to present a feast of top-class Miao-style song and dance performances and exciting aquatic sports competitions as gifts to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

"There have been a total of 19 activities and competitions scheduled under the two main categories of flower mountain festival and aquatic sports meeting," said Cheng Tu, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County Committee, secretary of the CPC Pengshui Miao and Tujia County Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and director of the Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County Tourism Administrative Commission, at the press conference.

"Including an opening ceremony of the 10th China Wujiang River Miao Flower Mountain Festival, a "decade review" themed evening gala, a folk song party, a folk dance exhibition performance, a Miao blind date meeting, and a "Chiyou Jiuli City Cup" motorboat open tournament and a "Loving Couple" motorboat challenge under the 10th China Motorboat League (CML) competitions."

The collaboration between Pengshui and CML also goes back to 10 years ago, and this year's edition will see Pengshui as the first stop of CML competitions, with more than 100 professional athletes from the country's top 10 motorboat teams competing in the four programs of formula motorboat racing, horizontal motorboat racing, vertical motorboat racing, and aquatic feature sprinting.

Unlike its previous editions, this year's China Pengshui Aquatic Sports Meeting also sets up for the first time a stand-up paddleboarding open tournament, which has been designated as a national gold label aquatic race, added Cheng.
