The Chengdu-Chongqing Area Cooperation for World-class Advanced Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Clusters Building & Local Products (Deyang) Promotion was held in Deyang on June 4. During this event, a cooperation declaration was released by the economic and information departments of Chengdu, Deyang, Meishan, and Ziyang from Sichuan Province and Yubei, Jiangbei, Jiangjin, and Yongchuan from Chongqing, to co-build advanced manufacturing equipment industrial clusters.

Under the theme of "Cooperation to Build a Future," the above-mentioned departments introduced their equipment manufacturing industry and industrial functional zones. Furthermore, the heads of these departments said they would intensify cooperation in pooling industrial clusters, creating regional brands, building research and development platforms and matchmaking platforms, sharing policies and investment attraction resources, and unveiling achievements.

To improve the competitiveness of the products of Sichuan and Chongqing's industrial enterprises, the departments issued the Chengdu-Chongqing Area Local Products List at the event. It incorporates over 1,400 products from 437 companies, covering electronic information, equipment manufacturing, food and beverage, advanced materials, energy and chemicals, and other industries and fields.

Helped by the List, relevant departments of the eight cities (districts) will be able to encourage local companies to purchase products nearby to reduce logistics costs and drive connectivity of all production factors throughout the industrial chain.

The year 2020 witnessed the scale of the equipment manufacturing industry in Sichuan and Chongqing topping 1.4 trillion yuan (about 0.2 trillion U.S. dollars). According to the Sichuan Provincial, Economic, and Information Department and Chongqing Economic and Information Technology Commission, the eight cities (districts) are powerhouses of the equipment manufacturing industry. Thus, there is a great space for cooperation in intelligent equipment, aerospace, rail transportation, etc.

Next, the equipment manufacturing industry in Sichuan and Chongqing is expected to capitalize on digitization, networking, and intellectualization, intensify coordination between upstream and downstream players, boost the improvement of industrial chains, stimulate regional industrial collaborative innovation, and co-build influential advanced equipment manufacturing industrial clusters.
