Chongqing- Chongqing Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Development Pilot Zone Social Experimental Research, a key consulting project of Chongqing Academy of Chinese Engineering S&T Strategy for Development, was held in Chongqing Municipality on June 10.

More than 50 participants, including Yang Yongbin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Pu Yongjian, professor of Chongqing University, Jin Shi and Ma Zheng, professors of Shanghai Jiaotong University, as well as representatives from project management departments and units, relevant government departments, and enterprises attended the meeting.

Yang pointed out that artificial intelligence (AI) serves as an important technology that can ultimately change the production and lifestyle of human society.

He believes that AI is one of the scientific and technological power sources for the transformation of China's economic growth mode into innovation-driven.

In 2020, the Ministry of Science and Technology supported four cities including Chongqing to construct a national new-generation artificial intelligence innovation and development pilot zone, and Chongqing has once again been awarded a national mission in the field of AI.

The significance of this project is to provide advice and suggestions for the construction of the Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Development Pilot Zone in Chongqing. It also aims to provide empirical evidence for the government's relevant policy design and offer technical services for AI technology application units.

On behalf of the project team, Professor Pu Yongjian said that AI technology has now risen to the national strategic level. 

"As a cooperative project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, this project can effectively explore the potential needs of various aspects of the society for artificial intelligence applications," said Professor Pu. "We will also explore the policy and talent needs of AI, and figure out more ideas for the experimental path at Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Development Pilot Zone in Chongqing."

Furthermore, the participating experts discussed and exchanged views on the positioning, innovation, and researched content of the project, and put forward their opinions on the research focus and scope of the research.
