100,000 Visitors, ¥82 Million Consumption...The 7th WTE & 2021 CICTIE Concluded

On June 14, the 7th Western China Tourism Industry Expo and 2021 Chongqing International Culture & Tourism Industry Expo hosted by Chongqing Municipal People's Government, organized by Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, and jointly executed by Chongqing Yuelai Investment Group Limited and Chongqing Daily News Group, has concluded successfully. This is a consumption event: more than 100,000 people attended the exhibition on site, and more than 2 million people watched it online within four days, bringing the cultural tourism consumption of 82 million yuan and promoting the recovery and revitalization of the culture and tourism industry.

A bridge to promote culture and tourism exchange

Jeollabuk-do, South Korea, brought a number of cultural and tourism activities with Korean characteristics, including hanji paper handicraft making, national music performance, Korean costume fitting, and taekwondo experience, which attracted a large number of visitors. In the Japanese exhibition hall, the exhibition of Shizuoka Prefecture's and the kendo performance also attracted visitors to take photos. In addition, the exhibitions of Italy, Hungary, Uruguay, Ethiopia, and other countries and regions were also full of exciting items, cultural performances, and interactive experiences.

Western provinces and cities (regions) such as Guizhou, Yunnan, Ningxia, Tibet, Sichuan, and so on also presented the beauty of cultural tourism vividly and intuitively. For example, the city of Chamdo brought along a delegation from Jiangda, Mankang, and Chaya counties to the exhibition, showcasing its special tourism products, including cordyceps, Tibetan pigs, dried yak meat, and ivory jade, with pictures, texts, and images. Guizhou brought more than 300 kinds of products such as tourist attractions, cultural and creative products, and special food. In addition, there were constant performances of native instruments, songs, and dance, attracting a large number of visitors to the exhibition.

The expo attracted 9 consulates and representative agencies in China, such as Japan, Italy, Hungary, Uruguay, Ethiopia, 30 provinces, cities, and regions such as Guizhou, Yunnan, Ningxia, Jilin, and other cultural tourism units to participate in the exhibition, and carried out a travel agency special session, cultural and creative investment special session, culture and tourism real estate special session, culture and tourism equipment special session matchmaking. Finally, 58 intended cooperation projects were reached on site.

A door for the world to enjoy the new charm of Chongqings culture and tourism

Scenic area promotion, magic interactive, acrobatic performance, opera performance, musical instrument performance...each district and county of Chongqing with their own beautiful new achievements and highlights, together portrayed the beautiful mountains and rivers and the splendid culture of Chongqing.

For example, Chongqing Publishing Group made a wonderful appearance with the "Yushufang+ bookstore" theme and created a comfortable reading atmosphere in the exhibition hall. The exhibition of Chongqing Tourism Group is themed around "One Step, One View, Smart Tourism," dividing the whole exhibition area into five sections: Chongqing landscape, group display, Wuling, culture, and interactive display, and smart tourism, which vividly expresses Chongqing tourism. The Western (Chongqing) Science City exhibition, with "white + technology blue" as the main color, displayed culture and tourism resources, high-tech products, and high-quality tourism routes, and presented the future image of the Western (Chongqing) Science City to the public through 5G technology and virtual reality technology. 

The participation of districts, counties, and groups of Chongqing attracted many people to visit and displayed the new posture of Chongqing's culture and tourism development to the exhibitors and enterprises in China and abroad.

A key to open a perfect culture and tourism industry

The expo also held hundreds of global promotion activities and special matchmaking sessions to empower a better life with culture and tourism and build the future of industrial development.

At the expo, Chongqing also released the most recommended intangible cultural heritage-themed tourism routes, focusing on the in-depth combination of ICH and tourism;

At the expo, the first Chongqing Hot Spring Culture Creative Design Competition was held, further enhancing the image and vitality of Chongqing's hot springs, and increasing the high quality and brand influence of Chongqing’ hot springs;

At the expo, the Cultural and Creative Product Design Competition was held, and five outstanding works stood out, empower the culture and tourism industry with the new energy of cultural creative products;

At the expo, the China (Western) Digital Cultural Tourism Industry Development Forum was held, industrial experts from across the country shared their opinions and discussed new achievements and new prospects in the development of the tourism industry in the context of the digital economy.

According to the organizing committee, during the four days, the expo attracted more than 100,000 visitors. The online and offline consumption activities attracted more than 2 million people to participate. The expo issued 65,000 tickets to scenic spots, hot springs, hotel vouchers, and coupons and stimulated the consumption of 82 million yuan, which strongly promoted the consumption of culture and tourism.
