In the P50 smartphone series rolled out by Huawei at the end of last month, the nanocrystalline glass cover used in its high-end flagship P50 Pro was found to be developed by the Chongqing ATG Corporation.

"The cover glass market, a cutting-edge and emerging product, used to be dominated by foreign enterprises. Hence it was challenging for domestic enterprises to tap the market for their self-developed products. After the completion of our early projects, the production capacity was not effectively released, putting our company under great pressure," said Li Guohui, Project Manager of ATG.

In response, the municipal and district governments have supported ATG to improve the supply chain and industrial chain. Efforts are made to offer information about the enterprises producing relevant raw materials upstream of the industrial chain and helping the ATG expand sales channels downstream. An official from the Chongqing Economic and Information Technology Commission stated that through launching major projects, Chongqing had driven many strategic emerging industry projects like ATG to expand the industrial chain and realize coordinated development. In this way, Chongqing has advanced the upgrading of its strategic emerging industries to a one-trillion-yuan level.

"Equal emphasis should be placed on investment promotion and project implementation." The official said that in many districts and counties of Chongqing, the focus is on strengthening tracking and matchmaking, making good preparations, speeding up the handling of procedures, and ensuring the circulation of production factors, thus promoting the implementation of major projects of strategic emerging industries.

While providing precise services for major projects, Chongqing continues to fuel the implementation and development of project clusters of strategic emerging industries. The construction of city-level key industrial parks is one of the new paths to promote the development of strategic emerging industries.

By the end of the year, the strategic emerging industry is expected to account for 30% of the value-added of Chongqing's industry above designated size. According to Chongqing Economic and Information Technology Commission, it will develop into a new growth driver of manufacturing while stabilizing the city's industrial investment.
