Chongqing- Augstina Casavalle is the deputy consul general of Uruguay in Chongqing. In this exclusive interview with iChongqing, she describes the achievements of Uruguay in digitalization and the country’s status as the southern gateway to South America.

Uruguay is set to participate in the Smart China Expo (SCE) for the fourth consecutive year. This edition will see the involvement of two prominent Uruguayan companies Genexus and dLocal, developers of local software and digital payment technology.

The Latin American country also has ambitious development goals in digital technology, particularly in renewable energy, electrical mobility, life science, and digital entertainment.

Uruguay continues to be a strategic partner in the Belt and Road initiative and uses the trade corridor to satisfy the transportation needs of the Uruguayan agribusiness sector.

Following the SCE 2021, Uruguay will continue active participation in major international events such as the China-Latin America and Caribbean Summit and the China International Import Expo, where the country will look to gain new opportunities through further exchange and interaction.
