On October 13, the Three Gorges Food Culture Festival & Wanzhou Grilled Fish Festival 2021 kicked off at Wanzhou Xinlianxin Plaza, Chongqing. The five-day carnival includes the exhibition and promotional campaign of Three Gorges' featured food and commodities, licensing ceremony for the establishment of Wanzhou Grilled Fish College, a grilled fish feast with 57 flavors, and sailing ceremony of "Wanzhou Food Ark." 

The fishery industry has been seen as one of the styles in daily production and life of ancestors in Wanzhou. Wanzhou Catering Association and Wanzhou Grilled Fish Industrial Association have jointly built up a memorial statue depicting the hard-working image of their ancestors at Wanzhou Xinlianxin Plaza, and the statue was unveiled on October 13. During the opening ceremony, there were exhibitions of local pre-packaged grilled fish food, an on-site Wanzhou grilled fish tasting salon, and a signing ceremony for invited merchants from across the country and local grilled fish companies in Wanzhou.

As an important part of the 13^th National Economic and Trade Fair for Partner Assistance to the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, the Yangtze River Three Gorges Food Culture Festival & Wanzhou Grilled Fish Festival created a food consumption atmosphere with higher participation and more active interaction, so as to ramp up the influence and fame of the gourmet feast and promote and spread the brand image and unique flavors of the Three Gorges' delicacies and Wanzhou's grilled fish to a wider extent.

The event's opening day saw the commencement of the exhibition and promotional campaign of Three Gorges' featured food. Participating enterprises from Hubei Province, Sichuan Province, and Chongqing Municipality displayed their local agricultural and sideline products, special food, other products for poverty alleviation by means of field production or special commodities exhibition and promotion.

In addition, a special area was set up on the spot for displaying poverty-relief products in Wanzhou to gather people from all townships as well as key catering enterprises to participate in field production and special food promotion.
