The 2021 Dance in Mountain City — Street Dance Series will be celebrated in Chongqing from December 18 to 23.

A feast of street dance performance

Chongqing plans to develop the "Dance in Mountain City" brand, with the international street dance contest under the theme of "New Era, New Youth, New Culture, New Street Dance," which is also the last session's theme. It organizes such theme cultural activities as Cultural Exchanges in Emerging Fields among the Youth, and regional competitions, final, and training camp of the Dance in Mountain City — International Street Dance Contest, 2021 China Street Dance Festival, "Dance in Mountain City" Flash Mob Show, and "Dance in Mountain City" International Street Dance Contest Tour. As a result, Chongqing can grow into a "City of Fashion" and develop the "Dance in Mountain City" brand at a faster pace.

The Dance in Mountain City — International Street Dance Contest, as one of Chongqing's most important cultural events in 2021, is designed to be a top-notch brand in this field in China. According to the sponsor, first-level tutors will be invited to the training camp and forum, helping build a professional platform for nationwide street dance lovers to learn and communicate with each other. The Contest is categorized into the children and adult groups, who will compete in Locking, Popping, Breaking, and Hip-Hop. Besides, the organizing committee is expected to invite top teams and dancers to perform at the 2021 China Street Dance Festival. By then, residents can enjoy many amazing shows.

Three highlights of this year's event

Some new highlights have been added to this year's street dance contest. First, there are preliminaries in northeastern, northwestern, southern, southwestern, and eastern regions. With event promotion, offline competitions, and live-streaming online, street dance lovers across China are expected to be drawn to the Contest, and the "Dance in Mountain City" brand will be more famous and influential in the country. Xiao Jie, a world street dance champion, will serve as the event promoter and referee representative. Second, Chongqing plans to hold the "Dance in Mountain City" International Street Dance Contest Tour. Winners and excellent routine teams will be invited to perform in northeastern, northwestern, southern, southwestern, and eastern regions to improve the popularity of both the event and winners. Third, brilliant dancers standing out from the Contest might perform in China's first original street dance drama created by Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development and China Hip-hop Union Committee (CHUC).

Renowned contests 

Chongqing is closely tied to dance. Square dance is a part of people's daily life; Tongliang dragon dance, high-platform lion dance, Youyang hand-waving dance, and cattle-playing dance, which are of ethnic features, have been listed as national intangible cultural heritage. All of them demonstrate the relationship between dance and Chongqing and the former's diverse integrated development. The lively street dance exactly mirrors the passionate people and multi-faceted society of Chongqing.
