Chongqing- Chongqing Customs District P.R.China and Singapore Customs have carried out in-depth discussions and reached a consensus on information sharing, mutual recognition of AEO (Authorized Economic Operator), data exchange, and other aspects, according to the 2021 Working Conference on Inter-Customs Cooperation held by the two sides on October 29.

At a press conference held to announce the results of bilateral discussions, it was revealed that both sides deliberated on topics such as standard texts used for import and export goods, drawn up to enhance the level of transparency and trade facilitation in technical regulations, standards, and conformity assessment for both parties.

Sharing of data information

In recent years, Chongqing Customs District and Singapore Customs have exchanged and shared information on global trade concerns and significant risks related to national security access, such as port health, animal and plant quarantine, product quality, and border intellectual property rights. They have also further consolidated the advantages of "intelligent connectivity and coordinated governance".

For example, the real-time tracking and intelligent query of dynamic data of container logistics in Chongqing and Singapore ports provide Chongqing's import and export enterprises, especially small- and medium-sized enterprises, with supervision services that are more in line with international advanced trade rules and lower the access threshold of the global trade chain. This will manifest a significant visualization result of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity.

Lim Teck Leong, Deputy Director-General of Singapore Customs, said that the two sides would continue to carry out in-depth information exchanges on infectious diseases, animal and plant epidemics, the safety of consumer goods, and border infringements following the cooperation plan to ensure trade security jointly, promote customs clearance facilitation, and optimize the trade and business environment.

Shan Wei, Director-General of Chongqing Customs District, stated that the two sides would focus on the theme of "modern interconnection and modern service economy", enhance the construction of "intelligent border", and score more visualization results. Moreover, they will further promote institutional innovation and provide a more replicable and popularized experience regarding policies, measures, technical regulations, and standards.
