ILSTC Laos Project Matchmaking Offers New Opportunities in Southeast Asia

Chongqing-Project Matchmaking (Lao PDR) of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor was held on January 6, aiming to connect new opportunities between the China-Laos Railway and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC).

Signing ceremony

At the meeting, enterprises from China, Laos, and Singapore conducted in-depth matchmaking and exchanges.

They demonstrated development trends in financial services, logistics and supply chain, industry park development, agricultural cooperation, etc.

During the event, organizers held a signing ceremony for ten cooperation projects in the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

"The Belt and Road Initiative is a public program that China provide solutions for global cooperation and development. The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is a public service program for a shared future of China-ASEAN. The international public program contains huge opportunity in openness, cooperation, and development," said Zeng Jinghua, director of the Chongqing China-Singapore Demonstration Programs Management Bureau.

New opportunities

The China-Laos Railway has been operated for one month. It has become a brand new logistics route for the ILSTC, and it also brings more opportunities to countries along the corridor.

"In the future, the ILSTC will effectively promote the trade of major goods and services between Western China and Southeast Asia." Manothong VONGSAY, deputy minister of Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), addressed via video link.

Through Laos, goods from inland China are exported to the Indochina peninsula, such as Vietnam and Cambodia. At the same time, the connection of China-Laos Railway and China-Europe Railway (Chengdu-Chongqing) in Chongqing also brings opportunity for trade cooperation among the Indochina peninsula, Central Asia, Russia, and Europe.

In the future, laptops produced in Vietnam and other places will be sold to Europe through this corridor. Also, It brings great opportunity for Chinese companies to expand the Southeast Asian market through Laos.
