Chongqing-As a main event of the national Cultural and Natural Heritage Day in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, the 4th Chongqing Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Time-Honored Brand Expo will be held from May 31 to June 9 Rongchang District, according to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, May 23, 2019.

The Cultural and Natural Heritage Day represents a week-long event annually in celebration of traditional Chinese culture and customs, and the day falls on the second Saturday of June. Moreover, this year’s Cultural and Natural Heritage Day will begin on June 8.

The expo co-hosts are the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce and the Rongchang District People's Government.

Activities to enjoy

230 intangible heritage projects and time-honored enterprises will participate in the expo, involving more than 2,000 relevant products and derivatives.

During the 11-day event, the city's intangible cultural heritage project will be here for exchanges and exhibitions in Xiabu and Antao towns. Additionally, visitors can also tour characteristic towns, learn intangible items and other interactive activities.

They can enjoy not only the performances of intangible(folk) cultural heritage on the spot, but also the wonderful literary feasts such as a fashion show themed with China grasscloth, calligraphy, and painting on China grasscloth, pottery-making, folding fan production.

Expo Highlights 

The 4th Chongqing Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Time-Honored Brand Expo is the first event held outside the downtown of Chongqing to celebrate the national Cultural and Natural Heritage Day. It demonstrates the integration of culture and tourism. 

Xiabu Town of China grasscloth and Antao Town of pottery are representatives of characteristics towns in China. Xiabu Town is hoping to become a base to learn intangible heritage, exhibit and trade China grasscloth, make relevant products and do some research. In Antao town, there are creative projects such as the ancient street, pottery museum, ceramic art folk hotel,  training base for pottery making and etc. The town combines the elements of having fun, consumption, experience, and appreciation.

The expo pays more attention to public participation compared with previous editions. At the same time, exchange activities are highlighted.
