The 8th Chongqing International Cultural Industry Expo (CICIE) will be held from September 12 to 15 at Chongqing International Expo Center. The exhibition area, consisting of five theme exhibition pavilions, covers 60,000 square meters. The “Share Cultures and Landscapes” achievement exhibition will showcase the achievements of 38 districts and counties.
Since this March, Chongqing has been sharing cultures and landscapes, which encourages all districts and counties to explore the culture and ecology and shows the cultural treasures and ecology beauty via the Omnimedia.
Visitors will be provided with the chances to experience VR, watch a wedding dress show and performance of tea ceremony. In the design and arrangement of exhibition pavilions and exhibits, many districts and counties highlight the interaction and invite visitors to experience the charm of culture in an immersive way.
VR experience
Banan Pavilion includes VR-supported on-site interactive experience area, cultural creativity work exhibition area, stage show-centered featured performance experience area, and business negotiation area themed on performance art. Among them, the VR-supported on-site interactive experience area will introduce VR, holographic projection, and other techniques to enhance the on-site interactive experience and attract more visitors.
The design of Jiangbei Pavilion is inspired by “ancient Ba County fashionable Jiangbei.” As for the content, it integrates such emerging cultural elements as book stores, creative cultural products, jewelry accessories, wedding dresses, etc. to show the pretty, up-market, and fashionable characteristics and to create an immersive and interactive experience. Besides, citizens will have the chance to watch the wedding dress show acted by models on site.
Ancient town culture
Dazu Pavilion will showcase vibrant and colorful performance projects of intangible cultural heritage, such as performance and exhibition of stone sculpture, Shuangqiao lion dance, Han Chinese costume show, incense art performance, and others alike, enabling citizens to enjoy the cultural deposits of Dazu.
Changshou Pavilion will present the tea ceremony show, where citizens can enjoy the tea while learning about such cultural name cards as the Changshou cableway.
Yubei Pavilion hosts a culture exhibition area, interactive experience area, and a stage exhibition area. The cultural exhibition area, which mainly displays the airport-featured culture, hot spring culture, ancient town culture, red culture and intangible cultural heritage culture with the characteristics of Yubei District, offers the chance to citizens to appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship of wood carving of the district, review the story of Wang Pu, a Hongyan martyr, and listen to the unique rhythm Xiao He Luo Gu, a traditional Chinese percussion music.
Qijiang Pavilion focuses on printmaking culture, which highlights the cultural tourism brand featuring “heart nourishing, health preservation and old-age care” and “the willingness to come, stay and miss.” During the CICIE, in addition to different aspects of scenic spots to be displayed, such as Gujian Mountain, Laoying Mountain, Dongxi Ancient Town and Hengshan Mountain, interactive experience activities such as on-site printmaking will also be rolled out, which will give citizens an opportunity of enjoying the unique artistic charm of Qijiang farmers’ prints.
Regarding the CICIE as a high-quality platform for showing and promoting local cultural tourism projects, some districts and counties will bring many cultural tourism projects.
Yuzhong District will focus on the promotion of such cultural projects as Shibati Old Street, Shancheng Alley, and Baixiang Street. In the first half of this year, the protection and renovation of the first opening area of the traditional characteristic style region of Shibati Old Street were completed. The buildings scattered on its both sides reproduce the style of Bayu dwellings. In recent years, the protection and renovation of Shancheng Alley have also been highly concerned by society. Although under renovation, it still draws a significant number of visitors to appreciate the natural beauty of the city.
Shapingba District will display more than 30 creative cultural products in three categories involving cultural tourism and leisure, arts and crafts, and innovative design. Among them, Chongqing Rongchuang Cultural Tourism City, a cultural tourism project to be opened in the first half of 2020, will be the highlight of the CICIE.
Fengdu County will organize such scenic spots as Xueyu Cave, Nantian Lake, and Jiuchongtian to participate in the promotion activity at the CICIE, so that more citizens can understand the county’s achievements of integrated cultural and tourism development.
