Guests are learning about Chongqing culture and tourism at the photo exhibition.

Chongqing’s Tourism Press Conference and Photo Exhibition opened at The Westin New York, December 31, 2018 (EST). Present at the event were over 200 persons, including guests from the Consulate General of China in New York, New York City Council, China National Tourist Office in New York, Sino-American Friendship Association, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) New York Branch, as well as media representatives.

Natural beauty and cultural appeal

After viewing the photo exhibition and experiencing the VR show, they highly praised Chongqing’s culture and tourism. Also, the press conference and photo exhibition received much attention from local media and travel agencies.

Chongqing has fully demonstrated its image as “a Land of Natural Beauty, a City with Cultural Appeal” by means of promotional videos, photos, VR shows, marketing events, and special interviews.

In his speech, Wang Dingguo, Deputy Director General of Chongqing Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission, said that Chongqing is a renowned cultural city with a history of more than 3,000 years, and it is located at the junction of the Belt and Road and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

Thus, “We hope we will seize the opportunity of this event and make joint efforts to advance our tourism exchange and cooperation to a higher level.” Also, Wang sincerely invited the audience to participate in the Sixth Western China Tourism Industry Expo and the 2019 Smart China Expo.

Five featured tour routes 

At the event, the promotion center of Chongqing culture and tourism in New York unveiled. Meanwhile, five featured tourist routes were especially promoted, including the Three Gorges tour, the city tour, the culture and folklore tour, the hot spring tour, and the rural tour.

Li Liyan, Counselor of Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York, attended the Chongqing’s Tourism Press Conference and Photo Exhibition.

At first, Li extended New Year greetings to guests. In addition, he indicated that as a city of openness, beauty, and innovation, Chongqing has formed international transport hubs including air, rail, road, and waterway. Besides, Chongqing opened 298 domestic and international air routes connecting with 120 cities around the world, and established sister-city relations with 35 cities such as Seattle, Inchon, Tokyo, and Bangkok. Therefore, Chongqing takes pride in its abundant and distinctive tourism resources.

“I hope that you can pay a visit to China especially to Chongqing for sightseeing, so as to appreciate the beautiful scenery and diversified culture of China yourself.”
