The sponsor is the Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, which also provides the venue. Eight artists from China, France and other countries endowed the ancient intangible cultural heritage with new connotations. They focused on the properties of Rongchang Grass Cloth, Chengkou Lacquer Art, Yunnan Dai Paper, and other intangible cultural heritage. Moreover, their artistic works enable the viewers to feel the sparks between intangible cultural heritage and art.

Rongchang Grass Cloth is softer than silk. Cheng Qi, the artist, designs the eye-catching garment with the Grass Cloth. Moreover, viewers can still feel the texture of the Grass Cloth from the garment. Its styling is artful, like floating clouds and flowing water. Light Water and Mists, embroidered by the artist Diao Juan, reveals sophisticated and exquisite stitches of Shu embroidery. It enables viewers to feel the artistic conception of a vast expanse of mist-covered water. Wang shiqin, a teacher from Aba Teachers University, creates a paper cutting work Weng with Yunnan Dai Paper. With a length of 5 meters and a height of 2 meters, the exquisite cutting and carving skills are amazing.

Cazeneuve Vincent is a French artist. He has lived and worked in Chongqing for 10 years. This time, he brought eight pieces of his works to the scene. Without names, his works aroused viewers’ curiosity. “The materials for these artistic works have their own spirits. I want to show the communication among the materials. Keeping the works unnamed is meant to let the viewers focus on the beauty of the materials.” He told us that Chengkou Lacquers had already become the main material of his works. “Its endless changes make everything possible on the artwork expressions I wish.”

The fusion of contemporary art and ancient intangible cultural heritage produces an enormous prospect. Through artists’ design, intangible cultural heritage can have brand new looks, which meet the aesthetic tastes of modern people.
