Chongqing-On February 18, 2019, the dance drama Du Fu, an original performance presented by Chongqing Song and Dance Troupe, won rounds of applause in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality. It is under reconstructing to be a must-see show for travelers home and abroad, a new strategy of the famous city to boom its tourism and cultural market.

"It has won the Lotus Award, China's top dance award. The boutique drama, which takes one year to accomplish, is based on the municipal cultural essentials," addressed Liu Qi, Director of Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development before the show.

It is a part of Chongqing’s efforts to create cultural and artistic performances for tourist coming to the megacity in Southwest China. In order to meet people's new aspirations for a better life, it is a must to provide them with rich intellectual nourishment. Chongqing is promoting the development of cultural programs and industries.

And during the Spring Festival, a seven-day festival for the family reunion in China, Chongqing has prepared more than 200 cultural tourism activities and received a total of 17.7493 million tourists in the first three days.

China's top dance award winner- the dance drama of Du Fu

The dance drama of Du Fu made its debut in April 2016. Moreover, some expert acclaimed it as a "milestone". The 100-minute drama tells stories about China's greatest poet Du Fu ( 712-770 AD), an equivalent of Shakespeare in the U.K., and he lived in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). In China, Du Fu is also known as Shisheng ("诗圣" in Chinese), literally poet-historian or poet-sage, for the realism in his poems. He aspired to be a government official and made it, but later abandoned his official position.

Base on that, the original artworks containing four parts shows his persistence in pursuit of a personal dream, patriotism for the country and people-centered idea. 

A must-see show for cultural trips

It is probably more impressive and enjoyable to explore culture items when tourists are visiting new cities and countries. Shakespeare's comedies, American family dramas, and Broadway musicals are all highlights for city tours.  When it comes to Chongqing in inland China, the popular dance drama of Du Fu is very much likely to be one of the highlights and must-see show for cultural trips here. Once it becomes a Chongqing-based commercial show, travelers are easy to find more ways to experience and enjoy traditional Chinese culture.
