Chongqing- A press conference on 2019 Three Gorges Citrus Fruit International Trade Fair took place in Chongqing, China, on February 13, 2019.

The Fair is to be held in Wanzhou District, northeast of Chongqing, from February 25 to 28. Its theme is "Three Gorges Citrus Fruit Makes A Tasty Life". Moreover, the event co-hosts are the Chongqing Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce and Wanzhou District People's Government. It aims to establish a platform for planters and dealers. Furthermore, the platform will help promote citrus fruit products, nurture relevant brands and facilitate industrial upgrade.

Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets

Chongqing prioritizes the development of the Three Gorges, which is not only famous for its breath-taking scenery but also for delicious citrus fruits. The likes of oranges, growing in one of the most suitable production areas for citrus in China, are tasty due to favorable conditions in the area. Additionally, the plantation of citrus fruits in the Three Gorges can date back to as far as 4000 years ago, according to ancient books. Currently, a planting coverage of about 1666.67 km2 can yield 3.75 million tons annually.

Generally speaking, the city attaches importance to both industrial development and a friendly environment. It believes that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. In fact, the effort behind the Fair is for poverty alleviation and rural rejuvenation, so as to improve people's livelihood.

The Fair serves a platform for international exchanges and cooperation in agriculture

The Fair contains three main sub-events, namely, its opening ceremony, business activities and a symposium on the industrial development.

First and foremost, the fair represents a commercial activity. It serves as a platform for international exchanges and cooperation in agriculture with the Three Gorges area, as well as businesses and investment. By way of the platform, it is going to integrate citrus resources in the region, build brands with Three Gorges, and establish an industry alliance. Moreover, it is fair to say the Fair will work as a broad stage for multilateral trade in agricultural products, multilateral industrial investment as well as exchanges and coooperation in this regard.

Secondly, the Fair is not only a business event but also a knowledge feast. Moreover, at the upcoming industrial development symposium, well-known scholars and experts from domestic institutes and universities will share their ideas on the selection and promotion of new citrus varieties in the Three Gorges, modern green and efficient cultivation, pest control and post-harvest commercialization. 

Last but not least, smart technology elements are in relevant publicity, consulting, interactive activities and results demonstration.
