At the Airport Economic Corridor of Innovation in Yubei District, Chongqing COE Display Technology Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as COE Display below) produces screens for mobile phones made in Chongqing based on intelligent technologies. Meanwhile, Chongqing Zaisheng Technology Co., Ltd. (Zaisheng Technology for short) and Chongqing Yazaki Meter Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as Yazaki Meter below) have undergone intelligent transformation too. Afterward, they have managed to reduce costs and increase production efficiency.

Besides, intelligent production also brings higher qualified rate and lower costs. At present, to satisfy the requirements for high-quality development, many manufacturers in Chongqing have introduced digital workshops and intelligent factories in their whole production processes. It is worth mentioning that the replaced front-line workers have been re-assigned well. After the intelligent transformation, they have transferred to other job posts within those enterprises.

The intelligent transformation improves the production efficiency significantly

In many workshops of COE Display, such as those for screen module assemble and precise module cutting, the noisy roaring machines and flashing sparks have disappeared. With the intelligent machines working on the assembly lines, the environment is as abnormal-noise-free and tidy as a library.

Every day, the duties of the operators are inputting orders to handle the numerically-controlled machine tool, build manufacturing implementation systems for the workshops, and conduct informatization management in the production processes of the operational plan, materials, and production. After collecting real-time data, the intelligent device will produce a light guide plate on a large scale. The intelligent device will make one light guide plate within 22 seconds. By comparison, the manual work would take 1 minute to finish it before.

The intelligent transformation helps to improve the efficiency

 Focused on producing vehicle parts like an automobile instrument, Yazaki Meter’s digital workshops for smart placement and welding are also “smart”. The production line has utilized systematic seamless integration and unified data management, thus realizing the information connection and integration among the systems, equipment, parts, and staff.

The digitization programs in the workshops have reduced the labor costs and increased production efficiency. In addition, the bad products rate, operating costs, and per-unit energy consumption for production have also been lowered.

Re-employment of post-transferred employees after retraining

Today, Yazaki Meter only needs one person to handle the machine to produce one vehicle-use smart instrument panel. In comparison, previously, three people had to cooperate in doing the same work before. Then, where should the redundant workers go?

Zhang Jing is the General Manager of Yazaki Meter. He expressed that the company had distributed and re-assigned over 40 redundant workers after intelligent transformation. They have participated in the one-month training and continued to work on the two new production lines, which have come into use this year. Wages and treatments do not see any change.

At the same time, after intelligent transformation, the workers of COE Display will receive pre-job training and then work on another glass fiber production line in this company.

Accelerating the intelligent transformation in enterprises

In 2018, Chongqing issued the Implementation Plan for Intelligent Manufacturing Program of Chongqing (2019—2022). This plan has encouraged intelligent transformation actions in Chongqing’s enterprises. Until now, 203 intelligent transformation programs have been implemented, and Chongqing has already recognized 76 city-level demonstration digital workshops and intelligent factories. In these demonstration programs, the production efficiency has increased by 70% on average.

By 2022, Chongqing will push forward the intelligent transformation on 5,000 enterprises and build 10 industrial Internet platforms with domestic competitiveness. Besides, over 84% of industrial enterprises above designated size will enter the digital manufacturing stage, while over 64% of enterprises of this kind will march into digital and network manufacturing.
