On February 21, Beijing held the First Plenary Session of the Belt and Road International Skills Competition (BRISC) Organizing Committee. The meeting advocated specific actions to implement the “Belt and Road” Initiative, including holding the BRISC. The actions also include building a platform for skills integration and deepening exchanges and cooperation in the field of skills. Additionally, all these actions will strongly promote the construction of the technical talents team in China.

The meeting stressed the significance of holding the BRISC. It also emphasized the effective unification of thoughts and actions with the decisions and plans of the central government. The meeting also called for the implementation and full completion of the organization work. It paid much attention to the actual effect, fairness and justice, and quality improvement of the competition. In addition, it aimed to enhance the influence of the competition and strive for building the brand of the BRISC. It is also a must to strengthen the organization and leadership as well as emphasizing the overall planning. Moreover, all staff should perform their own duties with close cooperation with each other. Only solid and meticulous work can ensure the safety, smooth progress, and success of the competition. In this way, it can show the good image and skills of China.

The Belt and Road International Skills Competition (BRISC) in details

Centered on “skills cooperation for common development”, the BRISC will kick off in Chongqing from May 26 to May 31. Learning from the mode and items of the WorldSkills Competition (WSC), the BRISC adopts a centralized and open way. There are 18 competitions in different industries. The competition will invite related countries along the “Belt and Road” and some member countries (regions) of the WorldSkills. There will also be a variety of skills display and exchange activities during the competition.
