The unveiling ceremony of China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone Commercial Mediation Center took place in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on December 19, 2018, and qualified mediators taking up their job followed suit.
China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone
The Commercial Mediation Center, as a major reform pilot task of the legal construction in China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone (hereinafter referred to as CFTZ), was set up jointly by the Chongqing Municipal Judicial Bureau and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Chongqing Committee.
It aims to provide efficient and effective solutions at low-cost for the disputes between the domestic and foreign commercial entities in CFTZ in a fair and equal way. Furthermore, the mediation center endeavors to meet the demands of different entities to resolve commercial disputes. In addition, it is designed to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of various commercial entities in CFTZ. It is to create a law-based business environment with internationalization and facilitation in Chongqing.
The Chongqing Municipal Judicial Bureau focuses on the requirements for the building of the inland opening-up highland and CFTZ. The judicial bureau has promoted the formulation of relevant documents, including trial measures for CFTZ administration, guidance on quality and efficient legal services.
At the 5th Chongqing Lawyers Forum, participants discussed and exchanged views on issues with regard to serving the construction of Chongqing as a pioneer of opening-up in hinterland China. In addition, the forum witnesses the establishments of lawyers service groups for CFTZ and China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, CFTZ Arbitration Center and Chongqing Yuxin Notarial Office—a notary service center for the free trade zone.
The establishment of China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone Commercial Mediation Center has further enriched and improved the legal service guarantee system for the construction of CFTZ.
Additionally, the mediation center will provide professional, high-quality and efficient legal services to build Chongqing into a pioneer of opening-up in hinterland China.
