Chongqing - As the old Chinese proverb says, A single tree does not make a forest, a single string cannot make music. When the City of Sacramento, where California starts, joins hands with Chongqing, one of China’s fastest growing cities, what can be expected?

On the morning of April 1^st, the Chongqing – Sacramento Business Conference 2019 took place in the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government. The delegation led by Mayor of Sacramento, Mr. Darrell Steinberg, attended the conference. The conference brought together the delegation and the local business groups to seek deeper cooperation.

The 9 projects promoted by the Sacramento Delegation during the conference covers healthcare, sports, transportation, autonomous driving, and trade, at an overall investment value of USD 300 million. It includes NBA Sacramento Kings International School Real Estate Development, UC Davis – Aggie Square Tele-Medicine Partnership, Aggie Square Research Center Partners, California Trade Platform, Electric Vehicle Power Supply Equipment Cooperation Project , SMUD - Streetcar ART Project, Autonomous Shuttle Investment - Streetcar ART Project Extension, NBA Sacramento Kings Marketing Partnership, California Products Export to China - Looking for Distribution Channel.

The Exclusive interview with the Mayor of Sacramento

During the trip to China, Mr. Steinberg leads the delegation to visit some of China’s largest cities, including Beijing, Shenzhen, and Chongqing, where the City of Sacramento operates a trade office. After the Conference, Mr. Steinberg took the interview with iChongqing to share his thoughts on the cooperation between Sacramento and Chongqing.

“No matter whether it’s autonomous vehicles or electric vehicles, not sooner, the whole use of automobile the way we know it today is going to change as well. Why not our two cities beyond the cutting edges and on the frontlines of R&D, and manufacturing of these new technologies. Also, in healthcare biotech, bioscience, sports, and entertainment.” Said Mr. Steinberg.

He also described his impression on Chongqing, “When we drove from the airport into Chongqing, immediately we were so happy to see the bright lights and skyline. You can tell this is a vibrant city. We have a four-year trade office here, which told us that there are so many areas we can cooperate.”

 “We see Chongqing as a great emerging city in China where there are new opportunities. We have been to other cities in China, we chose Chongqing. And we hope Chongqing will choose Sacramento." Mr. Steinberg said touchingly.
