The fourth edition of Chongqing Beibei Talents Week and Wits in Beibei opened in Beibei District, Chongqing Municipality, on November 24, 2018. This event has brought about 360 guests together, including government officials at local and municipal level, leaders from Southwest University, Chinese academicians, Beibei locals living elsewhere, entrepreneurs and press. The event running to November 29 is designed to gather wits in Beibei for its development.

Since 2015, this year marks the fourth anniversary of Chongqing Beibei Talents Week, co-hosted by the Chongqing’s Beibei District Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Beibei District People’s Government and Southwest University.
Beibei is unleashing the dividends of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone, industrial demonstrative program with Singapore and pilot reform of private economy in a comprehensive way. It aims to turn talent as a new engine for local development and cooperate with and give a full play of universities to cultivate talent.
Moreover, its five sub-events are Wits in Beibei, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Results Exhibition, Human Resources Service Forum, University Students Visit Beibei and Young Teachers Visit Beibei.
He Qing, Deputy Secretary of Beibei District Committee of the Communist Party of China and Beibei District Head, addressed at the opening ceremony. He mentioned that the amount of talents in Beibei reached 181,000 and high-level talents, including Chinese academicians nearly 500.
The district head added that the Beibei government has made continuous effort to upgrade its cooperation with universities to improve the city environment, so that talents and enterprises coming to Beibei have development opportunities. Next, Beibei will intensify its efforts to attract more talents and arouse the vigor of innovation. Beibei’s high-quality development requires more talents.
Zhang Weiguo, President of Southwest University, said that the university and the Beibei District Government have intensified efforts to promote in-depth and high-level cooperation in all respects. The two parties have made joint efforts to upgrade their cooperation and achieved fruitful results by pushing forward innovation, establishing innovative platforms and creating favorable innovation ecology.
