On November 26, a postal parcel from Germany experienced more than 10,000 kilometers of long-distance travel. Finally, it arrived at railway port center of International Mail Exchange Bureau (Chongqing) in Chongqing Logistics City of Shapingba District. In addition, it experienced customs inspection, distribution, and other procedures. Afterward, they would be delivered to the addressees in a timely manner. This also marked the successful completion of the first large-scale mail import delivery test for the train of the China Railway Express (Chongqing).

The successful test of return-trip post-delivery reached a new breakthrough in importing post of China Railway Express nationwide. The use of China-Europe freight trains to transport international post serves as a key driver for the construction of China’s post industry under the “Belt and Road” Initiative as well as a worldwide innovation in the international mail transport model. It promotes the smooth communication of China’s facilities and trade with countries along the “Belt and Road”. In the meantime, it strengthens the cooperation of post service between them. In addition, people of countries along the “Belt and Road” can enjoy cross-border e-commerce delivery services. It is higher cost performance, more categories, more environmentally friendly logistics, and more stable time limits.

The Significance of the Test of China Railway Express (Chongqing)

In November 2017, the China Railway Express (Chongqing) has achieved normal operation of export mails delivery. The success of import post-delivery from Duisburg, German to Chongqing is another major breakthrough of the China Railway Express. It lays a good foundation for promoting the test and normal operation of import post. Moreover, it is important to the two-way connectivity of the China Railway Express.

In the next step, Chongqing Municipal People’s Government and China Post Group will jointly take the railway mail delivery channel of the China Railway Express (Chongqing) as the platform. Meanwhile, they will regard international mail processing center and overseas warehouses of the Chongqing railway port as the nodes. Besides, they will see the cross-border e-commerce industry cluster in Chongqing as the pivot to promote Chongqing. Therefore, Chongqing will build itself into an inland international logistics hub and opening-up highland through opening up the platform. Furthermore, Chongqing can integrate resources, expanding functions, sharing information, and coordinating development.
