Chongqing-Circum-Southwest University’s Innovation Ecosphere, or CSUIE, in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, gathers scientific and technological resources as well as talents based in Beibei District’s Southwest University. CSUIE aims to support a common workspace for innovation, entrepreneurship, creation, and bolster sound development plans, local advantages, and coordinated efforts.

The innovation ecosphere attracts global high-quality innovation resources to gather in Southwest University and Beibei District, in order to achieve the coordinated development of enterprises, universities and research institutes.

Innovation has been labeled as the primary driving force behind the development and crucial to building a modernized economy. China has set its sights on becoming an "innovation nation" by 2020, an international leader in innovation by 2030, and a world powerhouse in scientific and technological innovation by 2050.

“Based on Southwest University's campus, but not confined to it”

According to a person in charge of Southwest University (Chongqing) Research Institute of Industrial Technology, there are six key projects, namely Tiansheng Street of Innovation, Accelerator of National University Science Park in Beibei, Beibei Yida Innovation & Intelligence Plaza, Beibei Chaoyang Wenchuang Avenue for cultural creation, Industrial Upgrading of Tianshenglijie Business Area, and Circum-SWU Urban Quality Promotion.

Shandong Nine-Ring Petroleum Machinery Co. Ltd., which specializes in producing sucker rod, oil well pump and the well-pumping unit, and Wisesoft Co., Ltd. famous for its facial recognition have joined the ecoshphere.

“The research institute of industrial technology is based on Southwest University's campus, but not confined to it,” a resource for the research institute and proudly added that, “It serves as an open platform to link university students and the society. It is also a cooperation between the university, local government, and enterprises.”

Moreover, many competitive enterprises and high-level talents , including academicians, experts on smart agriculture and smart education, have joined the research institute.

“An all-around support and service”

Beibei District introduces more favorable policies to create a better environment for innovation.

“The Beibei government has all-around exceptional support and service regarding systems, personnel, resources, projects, and funds,” said a person in charge of Beibei District Science and Technological Bureau.

The first batch of more than 50 domestic and foreign scientific and technological innovation projects, technology companies and venture capital funds signed up involves smart agriculture, smart education, artificial intelligence,  health care, and biomedicine.

Chongqing is to establish the China (West) Science and Technology Innovation Center.
