Over 25 Million Travelers Visited Chongqing in Labor Day Holiday

Chongqing- On May 4, the Municipal Culture and Tourism Committee indicated that according to preliminary statistics, Chongqing served a total of 25.7595 million domestic and foreign tourists, achieving a total tourism income of 20.016 billion yuan during Labor Day Holiday, which increased by 10.6% and 33.5%.

The major shopping districts in downtown and the scenic spots are crowded with people -urban tourism is extremely hot. The downtown area of Chongqing crowed in 4.205 million visitors, which got an increase of 5.52%; Shapingba District got 1,113,300 tourists, reached an increase of 15.94%; Jiangbei District served 922,000 tourists, reached an increase of 8.74%.

There were 334,000 visitors in Guanyinqiao Business Circle City Tourist Area during the 4-day-holiday. The number increases by 24.88% compared with last year. Yangtze River Cableway Scenic Area received 79,900 tourists, rising up 39.47% to last year. Ciqikou Ancient Town received 248,100 tourists -rising up 26.78% to last year. Hongyadong received 417,000 tourists, an increase of 178.99% over the same period of last year.

Selected scenic spots like The Locajoy Theme Park got an increase of 73.9%

The "Million Tourist Club" tourist attractions, which were included in the statistical report of the Municipal Cultural Tourism Commission, received a total of 1,137,100 tourists and got an increase of 13.26% over the same period last year. The ticket income was 32,366,900 yuan, an increase of 28.65%.

Among them, Wulong Karst Tourist Area received 183,200 tourists, got an increase of 23.22% over the same period of last year; the tourism income was 17.38 million yuan, which was an increase of 23.54%. Chongqing Zoo received 135,000 tourists, reached an increase of 22.34%, and obtained a tourism income of 3.1 million yuan with an increase of 8.33%. Yunyang Longgang Scenic Area received 98,100 tourists, an increase of 5.37%, and obtained tourism income of 9.698 million yuan with an increase of 6.38%. The Locajoy Theme Park Scenic Area received 76,100 tourists, reached an increase of 73.9%, and obtained tourism income of 16.871 million yuan with an increase of 57.93%.

Mountain climbing is popular

During the Labor Day Holiday, a large number of citizens went to rural tourism spots for fitness, leisure, and sightseeing. The rural tourism areas such as Shapingba Geleshan Forest Park and Beibei Jinyun Mountain in urban Chongqing received 18,800 tourists and 63,500 tourists respectively with an increase of 44.66% and 57.62% respectively.
The Nanchuan Ecological Grand Garden in the rural area received 166,000 visitors with a growth of 15.04%; Fengdu District received 14,900 tourists with a growth of 44.49%; Wuxi Hongchiba Scenic Area received 57,500 tourists with an increase of 24.1%.

Red scenic spots are hot too

According to the statistics, each Chongqing revolutionary martyrs` memorial hall and other 19 red scenic spots received a total of 331,300 tourists. Among them, Hongyan Revolutionary History Museum, Liu Bocheng's Former Residence, and Memorial Hall, Yang Qinggong's Former Residence and Martyrs Cemetery, Qiu Shaoyun Martyrs Memorial Hall, and other eight have become the popular "red" scenic spots during the holiday.
