Chongqing - The Second Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade (WCIFIT) will be held from May 16 to 19 in Chongqing International Expo Center. According to the organizing committee, it is estimated that 280 fortune 500 companies, over 1,900 multinational companies and 22,000 guests from 57 countries and regions will participate in the WCIFIT.

The WCIFIT is dedicated to deepening cooperation among 12 provinces in West China and Opening-up. It stresses the development strategy, the industrial development, the demand for attracting investment during the course of western regions’ opening- up. The WCIFIT will become a national, international and comprehensive fair for promoting the Belt and Road Initiative and Western Development. It will serve as a diplomatic platform as well as a platform for attracting investment, and economic and trade cooperation. The WCIFIT is a sharing and win-win international business fair organized by China’s State Ministries and Commissions and western regions.

49 forums and activities to promote cultural exchange as well as trade and investment

49 forums and activities on investment and trade and cultural exchange will be held in WCIFIT, including 10 theme activities, 8 Belt and Road Initiative series of activities, 11 guest country series of activities, and 20 thematic activities.

2019 Annual Meeting of Belt And Road Overseas Chinese Business Organization. The event will be held from 2 pm to 6 pm on May 16 at the Three gorges Hall on the fourth floor of Radisson Blu Plaza Chongqing. The annual meeting aims to give full play to Chongqing's leading role in promoting the joint development of Belt And Road and its exemplary role in promoting the green development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The meeting invites experts from the Belt and Road Initiative Research Institute of Tsinghua University to interpret the latest policies and share the latest research results. Well-known overseas Chinese businessmen will be invited to share their thoughts and experience of participating in the Belt and Road. Relevant parties are invited to introduce the Belt and Road Initiative and its related projects such as China-Europe Railway Express, Free Trade Zone, China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, Yangtze River Economic Belt and Western Development.

Asia 300 Global Business Forum Chongqing Summit (Asia 300 Chongqing Summit) will be held from 2 pm to 6 pm on May 16 at the Banquet Hall on the second floor of Wyndham Hotel Chongqing Yuelai. As an important part of the WCIFIT, the Summit gathers over 300 leading business and political leaders in Chongqing to discuss and explore the potential for open and connected Asian economies. Experts, scholars along with entrepreneurs will discuss under topics such as the countries’ economic development and regional cooperation under Asia economic new era and Belt and Road Initiative.

2019 China (West) Belt and Road Cross Border Investment and Trade Matchmaking Meeting will be held from 10 am to 5:30 pm on May 17 in Liangjiang Hall of Chongqing International Expo Center. The Matchmaking Meeting aims at strengthening international advantage capacity cooperation, fostering and expanding the communication and cooperation between Chongqing’s industrial as well as commercial enterprises and the enterprises of the countries and regions along the Belt and Road, especially those along China-Europ (Chongqing) Rail Express and the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. It also helps Chongqing to further enhance Opening-up and radiantly drive the development of the central and western regions.

Hungarian Tourism Intelligence Upgrading Communication and Promotion Conference -BFTK & AIWTC Cooperation Signing Ceremony will be held from 9:00 am to 11:30 am on May 17 in the Huanyue Hall A of Chongqing International Expo Center. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Hungary. Hungary is the guest country of the WCIFIT. The event will focus on celebrating the anniversary by demonstrating Hungary’s innovative technology and high-quality trade commodity. Meanwhile, visitors could expect activities such as China-Hungary Hot Spring Industry Cooperation Summit, Hungary Tourism Intelligence Upgrading Communication, and Promotion Conference, Hungarian Tourism Hall, Hungarian folk culture performance, Hungarian table football interactive entertainment.

China (Chongqing) New Energy Vehicle Industry International Cooperation Summit will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on May 16 in Chongqing International Expo Center. The Summit will bring together more than 200 leading corporate representatives and executives from the global new energy vehicle industry. This event will invite the regional government of Lombardy, Italy’s National Association of Automobile Manufacturers, Italy’s National Association of Industrial Designers, the German Association of Hydrogen and Fuel Cells and other institutions to participate, aiming to help the industry to obtain the latest industry intelligence, and understand the hottest new energy vehicle development technology.

The exhibition areas under 8 themes

Nearly 3,000 enterprises from 24 provinces, special administrative regions, and cities including Beijing, Shanxi, Shandong, Zhejiang and Hong Kong, will participate in the WCIFIT. Around 100 central enterprises including China South Industries Group Corporation Limited, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China Aerospace Science & Industry Corporation, CRRC Corporation Limited, China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, Aluminum Corporation of China, Sinopec Group and over 600 large state-owned enterprises and well-known private enterprises will join in the Fair.

The total exhibition area of WCIFIT is about 110,000 square meters, including 8 exhibition areas under the following themes: Charming Western Cooperation, International Cooperation, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Cooperation, Pilot Free Trade Zone, Regional Cooperation, Multinational Companies, Central Enterprises, and State-Owned Enterprises, and Famous Private Enterprises. The new International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Cooperation and Pilot Free Trade Zone exhibition areas debut in the WCIFIT for the first time.

New technology and products debut on the Fair

The 110,000 square meter exhibition area has been fully arranged, among which the special booth area accounts for 98% of the total exhibition area, which is the highest rate in domestic similar exhibitions. The WCIFIT focuses on displaying new technology and new products of Fortunes 500, central enterprises, state-owned enterprises, and well-known enterprises. 2800 personnel and 600 subsidiaries and branches from nearly 100 Fortune 500 companies, multinational companies, central enterprises state-owned enterprises and well-known private enterprises will participate in the WCIFIT. The participate enterprises cover areas such as new technologies of aerospace science, intelligent manufacturing, new energy vehicles, and new electronic terminals.

Nearly 80 government delegations from Sichuan Province, Guizhou Province, Shaanxi Province, Beijing, and Tianjin, as well as about 3,000 enterprises participating in the Fair, with 12,000 people. Eight western provinces, autonomous regions, and cities, including Yunnan, Ningxia, Qinghai and Inner Mongolia will hold investment negotiation and purchase docking activities. The WCIFIT sets Sichuan, Guizhou, Shanxi as guest provinces for the first time. A series of promotion activities for the investment environment in West China and high-quality projects will be carried out.
