How does it feel to make phone calls, watch videos, and play games with 5G network? On July 30, China Mobile Chongqing Branch (Chongqing Mobile for short) held a certification activity for the first batch of 5G experiencers in China Mobile 5G Innovation Center Chongqing Open Lab. At the scene, 5G mobile phones from mainstream mobile phone manufacturers such as Huawei, ZTE, OPPO, and MI were all present, and the city’s first batch of 5G exclusive numbers, starting with 198, was officially released for use.

What do 5G mobile phones and cards look like?

There is no difference in appearance between the 5G card and 4G card, but exclusive phone numbers are issued, which start with 198 and end with 0001 and other combinations of numbers. According to Chongqing Mobile, after the 5G network is officially integrated, it would be available for people who replaced their phones with 5G phones, without replacing the phone card, phone number, and phone package.

What are the advantages of 5G over 4G?

At the scene, experiencers opened a speed measuring app on the 5G mobile phone. After a few seconds, it showed that the downloading speed could reach 1GB per second, which means it only takes 1 second to download a 1GB high-definition movie. Then they experienced a popular mobile game, with no time delay, no lag, clear picture, and smooth operation.

According to 5G experts, 5G network, featuring high broadband, low latency, and full connection, would not only offer citizens a faster network speed, but also be applied to the connection of things more to provide necessary network capabilities for a series of industrial applications such as intelligent manufacturing, unmanned control and smart city. Experiencers were also invited to visit such application demonstrations as 5G AI robots, remote driving, 5G immersive experience, and 5G smart logistics. Besides, more cool tech of 5G applications will be shown at the exhibition hall of Chongqing Mobile in SCE this August.

When will 5G pricing packages be launched?

Before late September this year, Chongqing Mobile 5G network will be officially put into commercial use, and 5G-related pricing packages will be put online. By then, 5G services will be available after the replacement of the phone. Users who buy 5G mobile phones before the 5G network goes on commercial use can try out the 5G experience package with 100 GB per month for free.

Where can citizens experience 5G?

At present, Chongqing Mobile has realized 5G network coverage in 38 districts/counties in Chongqing and become the first to complete the all-service carrying of 5G network. Citizens who have purchased 5G mobile phones can experience 5G network in the first batch of continuous coverage areas, such as pedestrian streets of Jiefangbei CBD and Guanyinqiao Business Circle, the campus of Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Chongqing International Expo Center and Chongqing Olympic Sports Center. Those who have not purchased 5G mobile phones can also experience 5G network in 5G open experience buses “cruiser” and seven 5G open experience halls, such as China Mobile’s Taixing Business Hall in Guanyinqiao and Zouronglu Business Hall in Jiefangbei.
