More 70 countries and regions worldwide gathered Chongqing to discuss the theme “Opening and Connecting the World”

By report, about 400 guests attended the summit and forum, covering more than 100 news agencies in more than 70 countries and regions worldwide. Representatives from mainstream television media including Central Radio and Television Station, CNN, FOX, NHK, BBC and others, well-known news agencies including the Associated Press, Reuters, Bloomberg, Agence France Presse, etc. and new media such as Youtube, Tencent, Sina, and Pear Video have shown up. Agenda of this summit was specified as three major parts: keynote speech, panel discussion, and case study; subjects under discussion included opinions on We-the-Media news that occupied large flow and the existence of trust deficit or information deficit in media coverage of other countries, as well as such latest topics as media business models and the application of blockchain technology in reports.

Challenged by tremendous changes and adjustments in the global media industry, media organizations would rather enhance their communication during convergence and development than fight their own way out. Participants thought of the “openness, connection and integration” ideas of this year’s summit as quite prospective; only by keeping an open mind, grasping the current development trend, exchanging ideas with all circles and thereby realizing a harmonious interconnection between each other, could the media of different countries exchange and communicate information in real time and achieve the in-depth all-media convergence.

During the summit, CCTV+ and Beijing Foreign Studies University jointly published the Global Communication Ecology Blue Paper (2018).
