On December 6, the visitors enjoyed the beautiful scenery of rime-wrapped mountains in Huiqian Ridge, Mala Town, Qianjiang District. Due to the strike of cold air, the Huiqian Ridge at an elevation of 1,800 meters was wrapped by rime (a form of freezing fog). The amazing nature attracted numerous visitors to appreciate the splendid sight of the snowy trees and silvery flowers.

The day December 7 is the Great Snow of the 24 solar terms in Chinese lunar calendar. The Great Snow marks the official start of midwinter. During this season, a majority of parts in China saw the lowest temperature dropping to 0°C or below. The strike of strong cold air usually results in a wide range of snowfall. North China features the natural landscape as “a hundred leagues locked in ice, a thousand leagues of whirling snow”. Meanwhile, South China enjoys fantastic scenery described as “white snow flying like feathers all over the sky”.

Along with the decline of temperature, Chongqing saw snowfall in many of its scenic areas at a high elevation. The pure white crystal-like snowflakes are flying and dancing everywhere. Therefore, it makes the earth be coated with snow and become a fairy tale world of ice and snow.

Once there is a heavy snowfall, the Xueyu Mountain will become a world of ice and snow. When the snowflakes fall into the embrace of Pyracantha, the combination of white snow and fiery-red firethorns looks so romantic.

Wushan Goddess Scenic Area

Both the snow-like mist and the cloud, beautiful like snow, are the explanation of great charm. As mentioned in the poem “No water’s enough when you have crossed the sea; no cloud is beautiful but that which crowns the peak of the Wushan Mountain”. The mist-shrouded mountain in the rain all year round may take you into a dream-like illusion, and it is also ideal for enjoying mist and cloud and red autumnal leaves.

Under the background of blue sky, the mountains are clad in silvery-white snow. As an ideal destination with beautiful wildflowers in spring and colorful forests in autumn, it also provides a resort from summer and a site to play with snow. Now, the coming winter also brings the Hongchi Dam snow for visitors to enjoy.

Currently, Jieliang (Yu-shan Ridge) embraces by colorful leaves in bright beauty. Embellished by the first white snow, the leaves dancing in the air are unfolding a charming picture. Wandering in the picturesque scenery, you will feel as if being placed in a fairyland.

Huang’anba, located in the northeast of Chengkou County, provides another ideal destination to admire the snow. On the extensive prairie, the undulating hills are like Mongolian yurts. The meadow and its surrounding immense forests will be covered by white snow when the winter comes.

Jinfo Mountain in Nanchuan

Jinfo Mountain boasts pure and rich ice and snow resources. With patches of white snowflakes flying around on the mountain, it soon becomes a land of ice and snow. The snow-coated hills are in a continuous rise and fall, and some white cloud is scattered on the crystal-like blue sky, free from any interference of other colors.

In addition, Wulong Fairy Mountain, Pengshui Mowei Mountain, Beibei Jinyun Mountain, Fuling Wuling Mountain, Dafengbao Fort in Shizhu County, Xuebao Mountain in Kaizhou District, Nantianhu Scenic Area in Fengdu County, Maocaoba in Fengjie County also provide ideal destinations to enjoy the snow.

Snow in Chongqing is less aggressive and heavy than the snow in North China. However, it features gentle and soft feeling like that on snowfields in South China. Moreover, the snow in Chongqing is so incredible with a unique charm.
