Chongqing - To further promote Chongqing’s hot spring tourism and enhance the friendship between Hungary and Chongqing, the 2^nd China-Hungary Hot Spring Industry Cooperation Summit Forum opens on May 16th.

Multiple Chongqing hot spring industry players and Hungarian Hot Spring Association participated in the event. Two world-class hot spring projects will be developed in Chongqing in the future as the cooperation project Tangshan Hot Spring Health and Wellness Town was signed. In addition to that,  a Memorandum of friendship and cooperation between Beibei district and Heviz city was signed to deepen the interaction between Chongqing and Hungary. Plus, there are 3 travel routes introduced on the forum.

H.E. István JAKAB, Deputy Speaker of National Assembly of Hungary made his speech in the opening ceremony, he introduced that in 1934, Hungary was named the world's hot spring city, and it was deserved as Budapest has the most abundant hot spring resources in the world. Not long ago, Chongqing also won this title.

"Just as Chongqing plays an important role in the Yangtze River Economic Belt in China, the Danube River in Budapest, Hungary is important for the development of the region and its water conservancy." he added. Furthermore, Mr. István JAKAB mentioned about The China-Hungary Technology Transfer Center will serve as a bridge for hot spring cooperation between Hungary and Chongqing.

In the Forum, Chongqing Hot Spring Association President Jiang Tao welcomes the two world-class projects being implemented in Chongqing Tongjing Hot Spring and Beibei ShiLi (10km) Hot Spring City.

Besides, the Deputy Director of Chongqing Hot Spring and Weather Healthcare Research Institution, Fang Guanpin, explained that “the three new Chongqing Hot Spring Healthy Travel Routes combine hot spring with traditional Chinese medicine, weather healthcare, and long treatment course themes respectively, giving customers the short, medium and long term health planning.”

The Forum is an ideal cooperation platform for Chongqing and other countries with world top hot spring industry, and will, in turn, boost the local hot spring tourism development.

Hungary is well known as “the country of thermal spas”, with hidden underground hot spring waters in more than 90% of their land. According to the statistics of Chongqing Culture and Tourism Committee, a 10,000-square-kilometres hot spring distribution region has been discovered in Chongqing, with in total 146 mining spots.  The exploitable amount of geothermal water is 560 million cubic meters annually, and current mining quantity reaches only 20.2%.
