Chongqing- On Aug. 26, iChongqing conducted an exclusive interview with Jamie Andrews, the director of Culture and Education Department of British Library, and Michael Takeo Magruder, an artist from British National Archives, to discuss the how technology implemented into artworks and treasures in order to better share with the world audience.
British Library has digitalized a vast quantity of books with Microsoft, ended up with 25 million pages of books, and share that 25 million pages with everyone. With 1 billion views and 17 billion tags those images on Flicker, it aims to let people inspired by those images. And there are lots of artists and art pieces emerging derived from the images.
Mr. Magruder has taken all Victorian times map from 19thcentury to be scanned and made a combination with contemporary digital cities VR piece. It created maps for London, Chongqing, and other places. It is interesting to embrace technology with the interaction of arts from people`s notion to explore the possibilities in a digital space.
