On the afternoon of August 26, as an activity of the 2019 Smart China Expo (2019 SCE), the International Cooperation Conference on Digital Silk Road themed Digital Silk Road Cooperation Inspiring a Better Future was held in Chongqing International Expo Center.

More than 400 Chinese and overseas representatives, including ministers, ambassadors, provincial governors, renowned scholars and noted digital economy entrepreneurs from over 40 countries and regions including Laos, Peru, Serbia, Turkey, Singapore, Argentina, Mexico, and Malaysia participated in the Conference to discuss the digital economy, seek common prosperity and development, and co-build a digital Chongqing.

The Digital Silk Road takes deepening international cooperation on digital economy as its basic content. It aims to co-develop the wider-range, broader-field and deeper-level information economy and co-construct a cyberspace community of shared future featuring political mutual trust, economic integration and cultural tolerance through building information infrastructure, facilitating information sharing, promoting cooperation in information technology, advancing Internet economic and trade services, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges together with countries/regions along the Belt and Road.

Tang Liangzhi, Mayor of Chongqing said in his speech that Chongqing will deeply participate in the international cooperation of digital economy, accelerate the digital industrialization and industry digitization by promoting the innovative development of Big Data Intelligence, further integrate the digital economy with the real economy, promote the coordinated development of smart industries, smart manufacturing and smart cities, and build the city into an smart industrial base and a demonstration city for the application of Big Data Intelligence.

Huang Yong is Director of the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission. He chaired the Conference and said that China has become the world’s leading power in digital technology investment, digital application innovation and digital product development. It has both the willingness and the ability to make a new contribution to the global digital transformation and to provide wisdom, solutions, and strength for a new model of the global economy, especially the digital economic governance.

At the achievement signing site, representatives of 12 government departments, professional institutions and enterprises from five countries signed contracts and exchanged texts. Covering such fields as artificial intelligence, big data, industry 4.0 and digital trade, they involve cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, talent cultivation, technology transfer, international exchange, etc.

During the two-day conference, there were three keynote speeches and exchange activities themed New Modes, New Businesses and New Forms of Industry under the Integration of Digital Technology and Application on the morning of the 27th.
