Chongqing - Recently, a batch of grain imported from Kazakhstan arrived at Guoyuan Port, Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing. It is the first of its kind under this mode of integration of transport and trade.

Transport and trade integration

The transport and trade integration means enterprises of transportation, trade, and others cooperate and make full use of each other’s advantages. In this cooperation, they will fully participate in the whole process of product procurement, transportation and sales. Mainly loaded with grain imported from Kazakhstan, the return train has 41 large containers. The cargo on the train is worth nearly RMB 3 million.

On trade, Liangjiang Shiye Company, a subsidiary of YUXINOU (Chongqing) Logistics Co., Ltd., has set up a trading platform. Moreover, it integrates procurement channels and distribution channels and provides trade agents and supporting services. In logistics, YUXINOU (Chongqing) Logistics Co., Ltd. is responsible for shipping. In addition, it provides door-to-door logistics services at a lower cost throughout the transportation process.

According to YUXINOU (Chongqing) Logistics Co., the successful operation of the train heralds that Chongqing will continue expanding this business. Furthermore, it strives to achieve normal operation of the train this year.

Rapid development

Thanks to the increasingly convenient trade and investment environment in Chongqing, China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing) has developed rapidly and positively.

“On the one hand, we conducted a detailed risk assessment on importing grain from Kazakhstan to Chongqing in the early stage, and we also proposed corresponding risk management measures.  On the other hand, we actively guide importers to handle the whole process of the entire chain. It covers preliminary examination, quarantine permit, customs declaration, allocation, and processing, etc. We will try our best to provide high-quality service for the enterprises while checking the import goods strictly.” The relevant leader of Chongqing Customs told us.

The successful operation of the grain train will further intensify economic and trade exchanges between China and Kazakhstan. Those grain products are from Kazakhstan and even regions along the Belt and Road. Enterprises involved will display, trade and distribute them in the core area of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area. It will strongly promote Chongqing’s establishment of the highland for opening-up in inland China and international logistics distribution center.

An inland international logistics distribution center

In December 2018, Chongqing Municipal People’s Government officially released a scheme. It introduces, by 2020, Chongqing will set up an inland international logistics distribution center. As an important participant, Liangjiang New Area will take measures to build a new pattern of opening-up. For example, improving the opening of Guoyuan Port and connecting China-Europe Railway Express (Chongqing) international logistics channels.

In addition, it will also open more international freight flights and optimize the international logistics system of multimodal transport. Thus, we will embrace the harmonious development of the ports, channels, industries, and market entities.
