Chongqing- “A tour in Chongqing, a gain in vision” Cultural Tourism Industry Development Summit Forum gathered travel industry research experts, scholars, and cultural travel project investors to explore new modes, business forms and ideas for the in-depth integration and development of the cultural tourism industry in western China, on June 21, 2019.
Mr. Zhu Mao, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, delivered a speech-Diversify Cultural Tourism and Promote its High-Quality Development. He elaborated on values, new missions, and practices of cultural tourism. He said, "Cultural tourism development carries new missions of rural revitalization, digital economy and smart society, opening-up and better livelihood."
At the forum, Chen Qi, general manager of Chengdu Qicun Wenchuang company, described her experience about Mingyue Village. There were no scenic spots or other available tourism resources. How to develop Minyue Village? Based on the experience of the 11-year cultural tourism project, she launched the Mingyue International Ceramics Village Project, a case of the cultural and creative industry. This year, Mingyue Village’s income from cultural tourism is expected to reach 300 million yuan.
Gao Shunli, Contract Research Fellow of Tourism Research Center, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, noted, "It is necessary for industrial development to integrate culture and tourism, and its development should be market-based and tourist-oriented."
Jin Cheng, a partner of Hongtai Dawen Entertainment Industrial Fund, said, “Aesthetics is the fundamental element of consumption and communication” at the forum.
Ye Qing, vice president of BES Cultural Tourism Group, believed that the mode of cultural tourism should combine the form of tourism elements, which meant that all elements of “food, accommodation, transport, travel, consumption and entertainment” into cultural elements. She also elaborated her own views on the creation of IP. It is necessary to transform the silent public cultural products such as traditional museums, art galleries and libraries into a new tourism service experience facility so that the city is full of cultural elements.
