On February 27, 2019, Beibei District of Chongqing Municipality held a news briefing on its upcoming mountain marathon. Huaxia Bank Cup 2019 Chongqing Beibei Jinyun Mountain Forest Mountain Marathon is to take place on March 17 in the Jinyun Mountain Scenic Area. 

Additionally, the competition adopted the form of a composite competition system. The registration channel for the event was officially opened on the same day.

How to register for the mountain marathon

Chen Yang, Deputy Director of the Beibei District Cultural Tourism Committee, said in an interview that the marathon has set up a half marathon (21.0975 km) and a mini one (6 km). The total size of the competition is expected to be 5,000. It includes 3,000 in the half and 2,000 in the mini.

Registration for the  mountain marathon starts from Wednesday to March 7. International participants need pay RMB 150 for the half marathon and RMB 80 for the mini.

The half marathon group accepts the top 50 male and female runners respectively according to the net timing results. Moreover, each receives a prize of at least RMB 100 and a maximum of RMB  3,000.

Beyond the running competition

Mr. Chen Yang said that the event will also fully integrate with the hot spring cultural elements such as the Northern Hot Springs. For example, each participant in the competition will get a hot spring experience ticket.The cultural tourism and sports industries will highlight the image and charm of Beibei city.
