2019 Chongqing Conference on Sport Tourism Industry Development was held in Wansheng on September 11. The conference consists of two parts: 2019 Chongqing Conference on Sport Tourism Industry Development and promotion meeting of new technology and new products qualified by the General Administration of Sport of China. This conference aims to promote the development of Chongqing sports tourism industry and introduce new sports technologies and products of sports.

The total scale of sports tourism in Chongqing has doubled in five years

In recent years, Chongqing sports industry has entered the fast lane of development, with the continuous expansion of industrial scale, the constant growth of market subjects, continuous active sports consumption and continuous integration of sports and tourism.

By the end of 2018, the total scale of Chongqing sports industry has reached 42.399 billion yuan, an increase of 16.9% over 2017; has realized the added value of 18.582 billion yuan. This doubled the total scale in five years and accounted for 0.91% of GDP in the Chongqing area for the same period. In 2018, Chongqing received 597.2371 million domestic and overseas tourists, realizing the total tourism income of 434.415 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.13% and 31.32% respectively. At the same time, Chongqing has cultivated a batch of sports tourism boutique events, sports tourism boutique routes, and sports tourism complex, realizing the relatively high-quality development of sports tourism industry.

At the conference, Ding Hong, party secretary and director general of Chongqing Administration of Sport, said that in the future, sports industry in Chongqing shall make efforts to “build platform, decide policy, create environment, and promote integration”, trying to play full of landscape resource in Chongqing, make good use of natural endowment, promote the healthy and rapid development of sports industry in Chongqing, and promote the in-depth integrated development of sports and tourism in Chongqing.

Build Sports Tourism 

The conference released the selection results of Chongqing sports tourism complexes, sports tourism boutique events and sports tourism boutique routes jointly by Chongqing Administration of Sport and Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development. It is the first time for Chongqing to conduct such a selection, which is an attempt and an important measure to promote the integrated development of sports and tourism, and also a key for Chongqing to establish the national sports tourism demonstration zone.

Eight sports tourism complexes including Chongqing Olympic Sports Center and Black Valley • Wansheng Stone Forest Scenic Spot, 16 sports events such as Chongqing International Marathon, China • Chongqing Wansheng “Black Valley Cup” International Badminton Challenge, and 10 routes including grand circle of Mount Jinfo and sports tourism boutique route of Changshou Lake, have been named the Chongqing sports tourism complexes, sports tourism boutique events, and sports tourism boutique routes respectively.

Chongqing Administration of Sport will give policy support to each unit, to build a modern industrial system, improve the entire sports industry chain, and promote the integrated development of sports and related industries.
