Chongqing– The opening ceremony of the 6th Western China Tourism Industry Expo, or WTE 2019, kicked off in Chongqing International Expo Center on June 21, 2019.
Mr. Liu Qi, Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development said that there are eight major themed exhibition areas, specifically: international tourism, domestic boutique tourism, Chongqing cultural tourism integration, cultural tourism equipment, exclusive tourism products, intangible artistic display and experience, digital and intelligent tourism, and wellness tourism. Moreover, all these exhibition areas display new developments of cultural tourism in Chongqing and western China in a multi-facet way.
“During WTE 2019, 15 project roadshows from Chongqing, Guizhou, Tibet, Yunnan, and Sichuan fully demonstrate the attractive cultural tourism resources in western China,” Mr. Liu added.
A total of 140 cultural tourism investment projects were signed at the scene, covering tourist attractions, tourism complexes, tourist resorts, cultural and tourism integration, rural tourism, sports tourism, medical tourism, and smart tourism.
On the international promotion stage, the Czech Tourism Bureau introduced 37 hot spring towns in different styles and more than 200 romantic estates and castles. Staff at the Australia booth in the exhibition area briefed art-study tours, parent-child travels, and customized trips, and the simulation of the big kangaroo and the cute pet koala attracted the attention of the passing audience. Japan Shizuoka Tourism Bureau offers information on tours to world cultural heritage in Japan.
The international tourism event gathered more than 80 international tourism promotion agencies from 42 countries and regions, all districts and counties in Chongqing, and more than 160 tourism enterprises from the rest of China. Exhibitors brought displays and promotions of their abundant tourism resources, performances with local culture, and engaging, interactive activities.
The booth of Liangjiang New area perfectly fit the theme of landscape and humanity. In addition, there was 998 RMB worth of Huayu Wyndham Hotel Deluxe Room Coupons, 278 RMB off seafood buffet dinner, Happy Valley Toy Doll, and many other prizes. The Banan booth fully demonstrated Banan’s profound historical and cultural heritage and precious ecological resources. Moreover, Banan offered 300 free tickets and discount tickets for scenic areas as well as free experience coupons for homestays. The Jiangjin booth brought visitors to beautiful spots and protein-rich foods. The Fuling booth presented a series of activities such as VR interactive experience, hand-knotted weaving, and tourism products to attract the general public.
The Yuzhong booth staged a popular acrobatic show called Magic City and Extreme Happiness Show. The performances presented an exciting, thrilling, and unprecedented extreme artistic experience for the audience. At another booth, dinosaur dancing entertained many children.
The cultural tourism equipment exhibition area has attracted excellent manufacturing enterprises dealing in tourism transportation equipment, outdoor tourism sports, and tourism infrastructure equipment. Ten cutting-edge trailers brought space demonstrations of traveling. There were outdoor travel and leisure products such as tents, sleeping bags, mats, lighting, folding tables, and chairs.
In the digital intelligent tourism exhibition area, the “Future Tourism” booth brought VR yacht, VR cycling, VR panoramic tourism, AR big screen interaction, immersive tourism, and other experience projects. It attracted many audiences.
More than 20 national, municipal and district intangible cultural heritage projects, such as sugar painting, Rongchang pottery, Rongchang Chinese grasscloth, Rongchang folding fan, Liangping bamboo curtain, Dianjiang Dashi bamboo, and Dazu bamboo carving was on display at the exhibition area of intangible cultural show and experience.
The Chongqing Municipal People’s Government hosts and the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development organize the tourism feast for western China. It is an essential platform for the cultural tourism image display and cultural tourism industry trading in Chongqing, and also an essential measure for the city to build itself as an internationally renowned tourist destination. The expo opened once in two years will end on June 23.
