Living with COVID-19⑱ Penny Recalls Her Experience of SARS from the Sunshine Coast in Australia

Chongqing- Life in China has gradually returned to normality since the COVID-19 outbreak was brought under control, so the focus of Living with COVID-19 has shifted to other countries across the world. We are reaching out to all nationalities to learn the current situation on the ground, and to share their personal experiences of lockdown.

Penny spent 14 years in Chongqing, and experienced the SARS epidemic in her first year. During her long stay in China, she taught English, traveled extensively, and helped organise a Mandarin Chinese group for ex-pats to socialise and practise their language skills.

A few years ago, she returned to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, from where she joined iChongqing to discuss the current situation locally, her memories of the SARS outbreak back in 2002, the restrictions people are subject to at the moment, and how she is spending the extra time at home.
