Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Signs Cooperation with iChongqing

On October 22, 2020, the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute’s Public Art School and Chongqing International Media Center (for Culture and Tourism) formally signed a contract to establish a postgraduate workstation and practical teaching base. The project aims to cultivate artistic talents with an international perspective and enhance public art promotion and development. It also aims to create a new trend for Chongqing's cultural tourism development, enrich the content and level of urban publicity, enhance Chongqing's global image and influence, and attract more overseas tourists.

Qin Dingbo, deputy director of Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Commission, attended the signing ceremony and delivered a speech. He said that the SFAI had made a significant contribution to the cultivation of artistic talents. He hopes that the graduate station can better use public art to express this city's characteristics and charm. The combination of "production-learning-research" has boosted the development of Chongqing. Mr. Qin also proposed that through SFAI educational resources, targeted curriculum development will improve the design level of "aesthetic education" in the city.

The Huangjueping campus of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (SFAI) has a history of nearly 80 years. In 2012, the School of Public Art was established, and the Department of Public Art and the Department of Art and Technology were established to focus on the "urban renewal and cultural revival" in the process of urbanization in China. The development concept of green design follows the development of urban culture. It takes urban aesthetics as the core, actively carries out academic exchanges, scientific research, artistic creation, and urban design, exploring the internal development law of urban space construction, urban image shaping, and urban cultural transmission. This field's direction will actively serve the national strategy for developing the western region and the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing twin city economic circle. Through education, teaching, scientific research, and social services, it will cultivate art and design talents for public art creation, cultural communication, and urban construction for society.

The Public Art College of SFAI and Chongqing International Media Center and Chongqing International Communication Center’s cooperation means to jointly build a strategic partnership of resource sharing and win-win cooperation in the integrated construction of disciplines and specialties, teaching and research, talent training, social service education, and cultural leadership, as well as carry out the in-depth exchanges and long-term cooperation. Through the school-enterprise co-construction of the public art college undergraduate teaching practice base and the Sichuan-American art master’s graduate training workstation, jointly build a platform for academic and production innovation practice, jointly carry out art design and cultural communication education and teaching research, and jointly explore the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle. Innovative development ideas for the tourism industry and jointly promote the international spread of Chongqing.
