The Western (Chongqing) Science City held the commencement ceremony for the key projects of 2021 and Chongqing CEC Software Park on April 15, including the launching of 107 key projects, with the investment totaling 106.23 billion yuan (about 16.27 billion U.S. dollars).

Among them, there are 17 municipal projects, with an investment of 51.66 billion yuan.

Statistics show that there are nine projects for scientific and technological innovation, 44 for industrial development, 23 for infrastructure construction, and 31 for people's wellbeing improvement, with an investment of 13.03 billion, 46.62 billion, 23.58 billion, and 23 billion yuan, respectively.

Geographically, 33 projects lie in the core area of the Western (Chongqing) Science City, with a total investment of 36.17 billion yuan. Among them, Chongqing CEC Software Park, with a covered area of about 500,000 square meters, will build clusters of internet information software and hardware industries, focusing on the internet information and electronic information industry.

It is also slated to construct a headquarters base of Chongqing's leading software, and hardware enterprises and a digital cluster demonstration base of southwest industries planned to be completed and put into operation in 2023.

Besides, 20 projects are located in the Shapingba area of the Western (Chongqing) Science City, with an investment of 17.47 billion yuan. They include the Shatin Sewage Treatment Works and the Geological Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute.

Jiulongpo area comprises 15 projects, including the high-quality aluminum master alloy production line and Xiejiawan Primary School Science City campus, with a total investment of 19.76 billion yuan.

A total of 7.43 billion yuan was invested in the eight projects in the Beibei area, including the National Headquarters Project of Aerospace Kaishi Sensation Control Technology and the Beibei District 2021 "Clear Water Green Bank" (Phase I).

In addition, the Jiangjin area owns an investment of 10.34 billion yuan in 26 projects, including Zhongke (Chongqing) Smart Industry and Research City and Shuangfu Central Park.

Furthermore, the five projects in the Bishan area involve an investment of 17.06 billion yuan. They include the China Chang'an Qingshan Intelligent Transmission Industrial Park, big data children's education mall, child-friendly communities, etc.
