Chongqing- The construction status and future blueprints of Beibei Park of Western (Chongqing) Science City were released Monday. According to the Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, it aims to build a new city with modernity and ecology under the integration of people, industry, and urban landscapes.

"The cooperation between Southwest University and Beibei District is comprehensive and in-depth," said Cui Yanqiang, vice president of Southwest University. "We will combine the technological innovation advantages of Southwest University and the industrial development layout of Beibei District, and attract first-class experts and scholars at home and abroad through the platform of the Southwest University Science Center. "

Building an area of approximately 120,000 square meters and bringing in a total investment of 5 billion yuan (around 0.77 billion U.S. Dollars), the Southwest University Science Center plans to focus on the construction of the Frontier Research Center for Future Agriculture, the Frontier Research Center for Synthetic Biology and Healthcare, the Frontier Research Center for Smart Manufacturing and Big Data, etc.

Each center has laid out several research institutes, engineering technology centers, joint laboratories, etc., to cultivate national strategic scientific and technological forces actively.

At present, the first-phase demonstration project of the Southwest University Science Center emphasizes the new generation of information technology, healthcare, and other industries, starting the construction of three demonstration projects. These include the brain-like chip and smart equipment technology innovation center, the Southwest University mental health big data center, and the smart ecological Internet of Things Research and Development center.

Next, the Southwest University Science Center will lay out the construction of high-level innovation bases such as scientific installations, state key laboratories, research centers and institutes, and joint laboratories, promoting applied basic research, and technological innovation application and industrialization of results, building a new era of science and technology innovation system at Southwest University and serving local economic and social development.

Green and low-carbon modern science city

Based on the ecological advantages of Beibei, the Beibei Park of Western (Chongqing) Science City explores and implements the Ecological Office District (EOD) project of ecological construction, and comprehensive development and utilization of the Jinyun Mountain, with a total investment of more than 50 billion yuan.

On the one hand, its first phase of the development is mainly to promote the construction of the Beibei Park of Western (Chongqing) Science City.  Currently, the Beibei Park is negotiating with China State Construction Group, China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, China Communications Construction Company Ltd., and other social capital parties to recruit city partners.

On the other hand, the Beibei Park cooperated with the local state-owned enterprises such as Chongqing Yufu Holding Group Co., Ltd to establish an innovative private equity investment fund, carrying out equity investment and investment attraction for high-quality projects in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chengdu.

Next, the Beibei Park will push for an ecological environment-oriented EOD development model that organically integrates ecological construction, industrial introduction and operation, comprehensive regional development, and urban construction, forming the sustainable development of the park and building a green and low-carbon modern new city.
