Attracting universities at home and abroad

Based in Chongqing, facing the whole country and linking to the globe, the application competition made more than 1400G government data accessible to the public. It aims to gather data talent, explore data governance, stimulate data vitality, innovate data application, and build data ecology.

The competition set up two major tracks for enterprises and universities, containing 11 questions in five major fields, involving transportation, meteorology, policy, geography, and finance, which gives a full play to the advantages of Chongqing government resources and the head enterprise resources of the Southwest Data Governance Alliance.

Meanwhile, international and domestic universities and enterprises, coming from South Korea, Singapore, and 30 domestic cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, and Guangzhou, participated in the competition. Together, they formed a strong lineup totaling 503 teams and more than 2,000 people.

Total data volume of China to reach the world's top

"At present, data has become a national basic strategic resource, also a significant factor of production and productivity," said Ni Guangnan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

Ni believes that it is vital to accelerate the opening and sharing of data and explore the development and utilization of digital resources, making data "alive."

As for Ni's' anticipation, by 2025, China's total data volume will reach a first place across the globe with a 27.8% global share.

He thinks, given the characteristic features of China, such as its vast territory, large population, and a wide variety of departments and businesses, the level of informationization will vary in different regions and departments, and types of data will also become diverse.

Ni believes that it is necessary to build a national integrated big data technology and security support platform based on a data network foundation, aiming to aggregate data from various fields and industries and then revitalize data, effectively solving the problem of data opening, circulation, and sharing.

Signing-up of 10 quality projects

Ten high-quality projects were successfully signed at the final award ceremony, including four intended landing projects and six intended investment projects.

In addition, supported by digital industry parks and special funds in Chongqing, Guizhou, Sichuan, and other regions, these high-quality projects will explore innovative application products and practical application scenarios of data opening, accelerating the integration of regional digital economy and the real economy.
