CCI boosts Wulong to a World-renowned Tourist Destination

Chongqing- The China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity Administrative Bureau (CCIB) and Wulong District will advance cooperation in jointly turning the district into a world-renowned tourist destination, according to a March 12 meeting.

The two parties' cooperation will rely on the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity (CCI). It's a move to cultivate and construct the international consumption center and the agreement between the Ministry of Commerce and Chongqing Municipality.

Four brands

According to the China Meteorological Administration, Wulong District was awarded as one of China's "natural oxygen bars" in 2021. Driven by the Winter Olympics, winter tourism in Wulong has become a craze during the 2022 Spring Festival. 

Wulong's alpine ice and scenic snow spots such as Fairy Mountain and Baima Mountain have welcomed more than 660,000 tourists and realized 239.9 million yuan (about 37.6 million U.S. dollars ) income, with an increase of 28.4% and 29.6% respectively compared with the same period in 2021.

Since 1994, Wulong has stepped on the road of eco-tourism development and has become an important tourist destination in China. It owns four brands as world natural heritage, Chinese AAAAA-rated tourist attractions as the top level of its kind, national tourist resort, and national region-wide tourism demonstration area. According to the district commission of commerce, it is also a model for Chongqing's tourism industry.

Yet, how to make use of the platform offered by the CCI to upgrade these four brands towards internationalization? Wulong has its plan.

In February this year, Wulong has set multiple goals to accelerate the construction of a world-renowned tourist destination. By 2026, Wulong will receive about 50 million tourists, and the added value of tourism will account for about 13% of its GDP. It will become the first batch of world-class tourist attractions in China and Chongqing's first world-class tourist attraction.

In this context, Wulong has laid a solid foundation to become a world-renowned tourist destination. It has proposed to expand the "friend circle" of international exchanges in cultural tourism, relying on the CCI, strengthen foreign cooperation, and promote policy reciprocity, resource exchange, mutual delivery of customers, and benefit-sharing.

CCI boosts Wulong's internationalization

Since 2021, the CCI has aimed at Chongqing's goal of constructing open inland highland in China, building a platform for Chongqing and Singapore's enterprises, and promoting Chongqing's characteristic resources to "go global."

To promote the internationalization of district tourism, the CCIB will make efforts from human resources, transportation, and investment aspects.

The first is to fully utilize the China-Singapore talent training and exchange channels to ascending Wulong tourism practitioners.

It will promote the linkage mechanism between Singapore Changi Airport and Chongqing Airport and help Wulong Fairy Mountain Airport open international and domestic branch routes.

At the same time, the CCI will take advantage of Singapore's hub to attract international tourists from Southeast Asia and help Wulong build a world-renowned tourist destination.

Meanwhile, the CCI will promote the export of Wulong's agricultural products to Singapore. For example, to support Wulong enterprises to participate in the China-Singapore (Chongqing) agricultural cooperation plan and promote the export of Wulong alpine tea and other characteristic agricultural products to Singapore and Southeast Asia.

Investment and cooperation are also be valued. The CCI will introduce Singapore enterprises to participate in Wulong's cultural and tourism industry. It will support Singaporean enterprises to participate in the smart city construction of Wulong District, introduce enterprises to inspect Wulong through the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and other associations, and promote the two sides' cooperation in international marketing, cultural tourism product design, and scenic spot services.

In the past five years, Wulong's tourism industry has flourished, and its international popularity and domestic influence have been increasing. Wulong will be a world-renowned tourist destination with the strong support of CCI.
