Chongqing- Since ancient times, the Wushan Mountains have been famous for their beautiful scenery as well as the dangerous roads and lengthy boat trips required to see the beautiful scenery. But in recent years, the improvement of transportation conditions in Wushan County has brought a new touring experience to visitors. Wushan boasts a stereoscopic transportation network of airports, high-speed railways, highways, and the Yangtze River, allowing tourists worldwide to come and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Airport above the clouds

As depicted in countless ancient poems, the magnificent sea of clouds on Wushan Mountain has long been a unique attraction for domestic and foreign visitors. So what will it be like to look down on the sea of clouds from the sky?

In August 2019, Wushan Airport officially opened to traffic. As you slowly land in Wushan by plane, you can see that Wushan Airport is like a huge "cloud carrier" standing on top of a mountain at an altitude of 1771.48 meters. Look out of the porthole window, and you can have a view of Qutang Gorge and the Wu Gorge through the spectacular sea of clouds.

The magnificent airport in the clouds was not easy to come by. Wushan County overcame many difficulties, such as icy roads, during the construction process.

Now the transportation time between Wushan Airport and the central city of Chongqing is only 55 minutes. A total of 8 airlines have been opened, covering ten cities such as Chengdu, Wuhan, Haikou, and Guangzhou.

The well-connected tourism road network

If you compare high-speed rail and external airports to arteries, the crisscrossing tourism roads in Wushan County are like a capillary network. The convenient internal transportation network provides visitors with a better experience when visiting the various scenic spots in Wushan.

Wushan County has built 250 kilometers of tourism ring roads and 1,600 kilometers of rural tourism roads in recent years. To take the Goddess Scenic Spots as an example, the fully connected north-south traffic loop strings together more than a dozen attractions, such as the Goddess Peak and the Goddess Stream, making it very convenient for tourists to visit both land and water. And it only takes tourists 20 minutes from the Tourists Center to the Wu Gorge-Goddess Scenic Spots.

Eight tourism loop is completed, realizing the "1 hour from county to scenery " and "1 hour from scenery to scenery".

Moreover, the Wushan scenic spot tourism through train is also officially opened. Seven scenic area direct lines provide more transportation convenience for tourists to travel to Wushan.

A high-speed railway makes trips on a whim feasible

The online catchphrase “To travel on a whim” seemed to have nothing in common with Wushan before this year. However, with the opening of the Wushan section of the Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed railway, the previously unrealistic fantasy will soon become a reality.

According to the Wushan County Transportation Bureau, the Wushan section of the Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed railway will be officially opened in the near future. It will take only four and a half hours for Beijing to Wushan, two and a half hours for Zhengzhou to Wushan, three and a half hours for Chengdu to Wushan, and two hours for Chengdu and  Chongqing central city to Wushan.

As the only county-level departure station of the Zhengzhou-Chongqing high-speed Railway in Chongqing, Wushan Station is only 20 minutes drive from Wushan Airport and 10 minutes drive from the entrance of the expressway, and less than ten minutes drive from the county. The dream of taking a weekend nap and then taking a bullet train to Wushan for grilled fish will become a feasible travel plan.
