Chongqing- Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality released a global demand for 3,011 postdoctoral positions for 2022 with the aim to create a large-scale team of young scientific and technological researchers and provide strong talent support for the Chongqing's high-quality development, according to the Chongqing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau on April 26.
Up to now, Chongqing has recruited 6,117 postdoctoral researchers and 3,075 at stations. In 2021, Chongqing recruited 1,017 new postdoctoral researchers, achieving remarkable growth for two consecutive years, and the proportion of postdoctoral researchers staying in Chongqing also rose to 83.7%.
Postdoctoral fellows at stations received 470 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, with a project fund of 89.58 million yuan (about 13.63 million U.S. dollars), with year-on-year growth of 58% and 50%, respectively.
Next, Chongqing will maximize the innovation potential of postdoctoral fellows, providing a platform for the postdoctoral exchange of scientific research achievements, a window to understand market demand, and an opportunity to promote the transformation achievements.
The 3,011 postdoctoral posts released this time cover a broader range of disciplines, including 1,470 in engineering, 752 in medicine, 323 in science, 251 in law, and 215 in agriculture, covering 60 first-level disciplines with a nearly 60% discipline coverage rate. State and municipal key laboratories, large scientific devices, and other major scientific research platforms account for more than 60%, said a Chongqing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau official.
Two thousand five hundred fifty-eight postdoctoral positions, accounting for 85% of discipline coverage, have been engaged in scientific research around ten strategic emerging pillar industries, encompassing integrated circuits, new displays, new intelligent terminals, new energy vehicles and smart vehicles, biomedicine, advanced materials, high-end equipment manufacturing, green environmental protection, software, and information technology services, and emerging service industries.
Regarding remuneration, the average annual salary of postdoctoral fellows has increased from 200,000 yuan to 250,000 yuan, and some posts have an annual salary of more than 500,000 yuan. Meanwhile, they can enjoy up to 1.04 million yuan of municipal postdoctoral funding, plus district and county level supporting funding.
This year, Chongqing will carry out a pilot project with the National Postdoctoral Science Foundation to set up a Chongqing special project of Chinese postdoctoral overseas exchange and introduction abroad, which will introduce outstanding doctors to Chongqing from the top 100 universities in the world and give each person a subsidy of 600,000 yuan.
At the same time, the Chongqing special project of the National University of Singapore will be set up to cooperate with internationally renowned universities such as the National University of Singapore in combination with the Belt and Road Initiative and other major national strategic plans.
“We will deeply implement the post-doctoral innovative talent support program of Chongqing, select outstanding postdoctoral researchers, provide A-card service for the elite service card, and give each person a subsidy of 600,000 yuan,” said an official.
Besides, Chongqing will establish national postdoctoral stations in key areas and offer 500,000 yuan as a reward for setting up stations, encouraging related departments to issue supporting policies for stations.
To set up national postdoctoral research stations, Chongqing will actively recommend the critical companies, including the city’s manufacturing champion demonstration enterprises, national technological innovation demonstration enterprises, China’s top 500 listed companies by market value, China’s top 500 private enterprises, and national "little giants" companies that specialized in producing new and unique products.
