Game On | Alex in the City

In this episode, called "Game On," I share my experience visiting a massive stadium in Chongqing. The Chongqing Olympic Sports Centre is a sports venue consisting of arenas, sports industry, sports education, sports park, business, trade development, and residential apartments. The center features a 58,680-seat multi-purpose stadium named the Chongqing Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Chongqing, China. It was built in 2004, and it's the largest comprehensive sports venue in western China, with the highest capacity for advanced facilities and equipment.

The architectural shape has a modern style, is novel and unique, and is ingenious and irregular in condition, color, texture, and detail processing. The light and translucent arc-shaped canopy form an undulating architectural skyline, giving people a sense of majesty. It is a distinctive and iconic sports building in our city. The Chongqing Olympic Sports Center has become one of the "Top Ten New Landmarks in Chongqing" and the largest comprehensive sports center in the city.

The total investment in the stadium was more than 690 million yuan. The project land was a whopping 118,600 square meters with a construction area of 62,500 square meters and a supporting and environmental engineering area of 300,000 square meters. There are disabled seats and disabled access inside the venue, and there is a football field that meets the official competition standards of FIFA that can undertake all levels of FIFA competitions. The stadium also has a professional track and field that meets the official competition standards of the IAAF and has laid the world's top Italian "Mondo" plastic track, which can undertake all levels of the IAAF.

The stadium is a popular venue for concerts. Mariah Carey began her The Elusive Chanteuse Show tour in China at the stadium on October 15, 2014.

We can only hope that the stadium will soon be open for everyone to enjoy again, and maybe Chongqing could host an Olympic event in the future.
