Daba Mountain, with high ranges and deep valleys through misty forests, is a natural barrier between Shanxi, Sichuan, and Chongqing. Located in the interior region of Daba Mountain, Chengkou County has an average altitude of 2,000 to 2,500 meters, and the 6-meter two-way driveway is the only traffic here.

On December 27, 2016, the Chengkai Expressway (Chengkou-Kaizhou) officially started its construction. It crosses the mountains and valleys to add another convenient way to Chengkou. The total length of the Chengkai Expressway project is about 128 kilometers, with a total investment of about 23.5 billion yuan. There are 11 interchanges, 63 bridges, and 19 tunnels, including 11 extra-large bridges and seven extra-long tunnels.

With a total length of 330.812 meters, Liaozite Bridge is a steel box through arch bridge with weathering steel. The construction of the Liaozite Bridge adopts the multi-axle rotation method, plus BIM technology, helping assembly, swivel, and closure of the arch bridge. This method is used in the first construction in China, laying the groundwork for the subsequent construction of other arch bridges.

The Chengkai Tunnel, with a total length of about 11.5 kilometers, is the longest expressway tunnel in Chongqing. The tunnel passes through Xuebao Mountain, and the engineering geological and hydrogeological conditions are extremely complex. After more than four years of effort, the construction crew made the tunnel with a depth of 1337 meters successfully break through a number of dangerous geological problems, including crushed fault zones, karst caves, rock bursts, etc.

Located on the edge of a cliff with a height difference of more than 100 meters, Xuebao Mountain Interconnection is 1292.5 meters long. Some sections of roads are built on cliffs that are nearly 90 degrees. The entire project is constructed along with high mountains and turbulent waterways, and there is not a single flat land. At present, the entire main part of the Xuebao Mountain Interconnection project has been basically completed.
