By Eiko Cheng|Jul 05,2022

Chongqing- When a modern musician meets a Sichuan Opera actress, what are they going to talk about? iChongqing invited Richard Frenneaux and Zhou Xingyu, to join our live stream show from both the hall of Chongqing Sichuan Opera Company and Cardiff University to talk about inheritance and dissemination of musicians in China and the UK.

Zhou Xingyu, a Sichuan Opera actress, exerted every effort to learn and promote Sichuan Opera. In her opinion, Sichuan Opera is not only a kind of drama performance but also a display of traditional culture from the ancestors. She recently premiered her latest work, The Legend of the White Snake, garnering applause and adoration.

Richard Frenneaux, a UK musician, began his career as principal songwriter, frontman and producer of the band Red Light Company (signed to Sony ATV/ Columbia Records). He has worked with many artists, from remixing Lana Del Rey's "Born to Die" to working alongside artists such as Natasha Bedingfield and Laura Welsh, soundtracks for the movie 'Pan' to collaborations with producer Flood (U2, Depeche Mode) as well as achieving a gold-certified record. Also, he has just attained a Ph.D. related to competencies developed by artists in the new music industry through Griffith University. He wanted to move to Chongqing because of the dense culture and modern vibe.

The live stream focuses on the topics of differences between traditional art and modern creation, as well as the discussion of what musicians can do to promote themselves on the internet.
