Chongqing – The special photograph exhibition “Mexico from all angles: A past always alive” opened on July 23 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and China.
H.E. Mr. Jesús Seade, Ambassador of Mexico to China, made the opening speech. “2022 is the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and Mexico. The Mexican National Institute of Anthropology and History prepared a themed photo exhibition of “the Olmec colossal head found in the Gulf Coast of Mexico” for Chongqing residents to learn more about Mexican culture.
The Olmec civilization was Mexico’s mother culture, dating back more than 4,000 years. As a way to break out of stereotypes, this photographic exhibition showcases the splendor of Mexican culture from the past to the most dynamic recent developments.
The photo exhibition is divided into three parts. The first part contains 29 pictures of the stone head sculptures of the Olmec civilization found on the Gulf Coast of Mexico and related archaeology pictures.
The second part is a collection of “Possible Poetics” by the famous Mexican photographer Edgar Holguin, which contains 24 portraits of dancers on the contemporary stage in Mexico.
The third part is “Mexico from the Air,” presented by photographer Santiago Arau. He documented life in Mexico City from the air, where he photographed landscapes, massive open-air concerts, marches and protests, the periphery, and the volcanoes surrounding it.
The work shows Mexico as one of the world’s most fascinating countries and one of the world’s major tourist destinations.
This photography exhibition is a series of events held in Chongqing by Mexico as the guest country of the 4th Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade.
